HEALTH ISSUE THAT KEPT GABLE STEVESON FROM TRAINING FULL-TIME FOR WWE REVEALED

By Steven Fernandes on 2022-10-07 10:45:00

ESPN.com reported that Gable Steveson will start training full time at the WWE Performance Center after an ablation was performed on his heart last month to treat Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome.

Steveson told ESPN that it was discovered last year before he went to the Olympics, but didn't he didn't undergo the procedure until WWE's medical staff advised him through the process.   The syndrome is a potentially life threatening condition that could lead to a heart attack if untreated.

WPW is a rare congenital heart defect, present at birth, in which an extra electrical pathway causes a rapid heartbeat. An ablation is a procedure that uses small burns or freezes to cause scarring on the inside of the heart to help break up the electrical signals and maintain a normal heart rhythm.  Going forward, Steveson's training at the PC will be led by Fit Finlay.

"We're glad to see that Gable is healthy and training full time at our Performance Center in Orlando," Paul Levesque told ESPN.   "WWE takes pride in our best-in-class medical team which guided Gable through this process to ensure that he has a long, healthy career with WWE."

Back in 2007, WWE announced that during a standard WWE Wellness policy physical, an abnormal accessory pathway to the heart (Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome) was discovered in then-WWE U.S. Champion MVP.  MVP underwent a similar procedure and was able to continue on his professional wrestling career.
