Independent Wrestler Devon Hannibal Nicholson posted the following video in response to his recent arrest for assaulting a woman:
In the short video Nicholson comments:
"This is Hannibal here with Piper, my lovely dog and the mascot of the Hannibal TV and unfortunately, a situation has come up that there's a lot of people that are trying to make me guilty until proven innocent. And unfortunately, uh, a bad situation happened with, uh, a girl that I was dating. But one thing that nobody is reporting on is the girl, Minaski Mona Yates actually also has five charges against her for assaulting me with a weapon, uttering threats to me, uh, destroying my property and causing me bodily harm. So there's two sides to the story. She's already had one court appearance in Ottawa, September 2nd. She has another one October the seventh, and I'm gonna leave it up to the courts. I, it's not a matter of public opinion. Um, it's a matter for the courts to decide, and it's an unfortunate situation. And is Piper the only female I could trust? Actually I could trust my ex-wife. Uh, there are some others out there, but, um, it it's, it's just an unfortunate situation all around. I've never been in a situation like this before, uh, where I've had to deal with, uh, a partner attacking me. And, um, it's just unfortunate. I, uh, I can't say anything more than that. I wish her the best, but it's now a matter before the courts."
As PWInsider.com previously reported, Nicholson will stand trial on 10/12 in Kingston, Ontario Canada on charges of assaulting a woman, who he has not publicly identified as his now former girlfriend.
Nicholson had been incarcerated since being arrested and went before the Ontario Court of Justice on 9/9 for a bail hearing. His YouTube account shows he was in Kingston on 8/20. Nicholson was released under the supervision of his parents and must either stay with them or contact them daily, has been ordered to have no contact with the victim and will have to abide by a nightly curfew.
Nicholson made waves in December 2021 for causing a referee in Texas to need emergency surgery after bloodying him with a spike. The promoters of WCPW claimed that Nicholson went into business for himself. He did not return to the promotion. He is perhaps best known for suing WWE Hall of Famer Abdullah the Butcher, claiming Abdullah bladed him without his knowledge or permission during a bout, leading to Nicholson contracting Hepatitus C and missing a chance to land a WWE developmental deal. Nicholson was awarded a judgment in that lawsuit but is unknown whether he ever collected anything.
