WHY DID IMPACT'S AUDIENCE DROP SO BADLY? AND MORE IMPACT WRESTLING NOTES

By Mike Johnson on 2022-09-12 10:19:00

There's been quite a lot of discussion internally within Impact Wrestling about their latest TV episode dropping to a 60,000 overnight audience this past Thursday.  Obviously, the episode fell on the same night as the kickoff of the new NFL season, which had to sap a portion of the audience, but it is also telling that we've heard from numerous readers that again, their local cable and satellite guides are listing Impact's new episodes as repeats.  DirecTV this past week listed Impact as a repeat and all currently listed episodes on Verizon Fios are listed as repeats of an August 2022 episode.  We can confirm that Comcast and The Dish Network also had incorrect listing on their guides as well.  This HAS to be biting into the viewership numbers as well and is something that has to be corrected.  If it is happening on multiple guides that control DVR recordings, the source cannot be one singular system, but something that is being passed on to all of them, so it could be an error from AXS TV itself.

There will be vignettes starting this week to build a new international star coming into the company, PWInsider.com is told.

Mike Bailey's X-Division Championship challenger at Victory Road will be someone from outside the company.  We are told that is not the X-Division announcement that is forthcoming.

Raj Singh vs. Yuya Uemura will air on this week's BTI - Before the Impact.
