Starrcast, the wrestling fan fest operated by Conrad Thompson, filed for a trademark on Southwest Championship Wrestling on 8/5.
Southwest Championship Wrestling was owned and operated by the late Joe Blanchard that promoted out of San Antonio, Texas from 1978 through 1985 when it shuttered operations. The promotion was the first wrestling company on the USA Network and after their deal ended, the WWF stepped in for a relationship that continues through today.
Among those who worked for SCW are Tully Blanchard, Gino Hernandez, Austin Idol, Dick Murdoch, Al Perez, Bruiser Brody, The Funks and many, many more.
-Bandanas; Hats; Shirts; Sweatshirts; Hooded sweatshirts.
-Entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests; Providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network.
Given that Starrcast held a Jim Crockett Promotions event as part of Summerslam weekend earlier this month, this trademark filing lends credence to the chatter last week internally within WWE that they are looking to host the 2023 Royal Rumble in San Antonio. One would think this means there are at least early plans to mount a Starrcast that weekend if the stars and constellations align properly.
