Six-Way Scramble:  Matt Cross vs. Tommy KD vs. Riley Rose vs. Chase Oliver vs. Komander vs. Gringo Loco

I take a few moments to pre-write a little history for all the matches, and boom, unadvertised six-way to start us off. Komander is making his AIW debut. Gringo Loco hasn’t been in an AIW ring in about 10 months. Absolutely crazy moment where Komander ran across the top rope to jump on to his opponents on the other side of the ring. Chase Oliver got the win with a shooting star press on Riley Rose. Gringo Loco took the mic and thanked the fans and John Thorne for everything they’ve done for his career. A-I-Dub chants as all six competitors showed each other respect in the ring.

Intense Rules: Matthew Justice (w/ Bill Alfonso) vs. Big Twan Tucker

Twan Tucker was on a roll in AIW, defeating MJF in a Loser Leaves match, but then COVID happened and Tucker hasn’t found his footing since. To try to jumpstart his momentum, Tucker called out an Intense legend and former champion, Matt Justice. It’s Twan’s size and power vs. Justice’s craziness. A big splash onto Twan didn’t get the pinfall, so Justice went under the ring to get some chairs and doors. Justice set up a double decker of doors and chairs and climbed to the top, trying to drive Twan through them. Twan fought back, and hit a power slam through both doors to get the win. Justice returned to the ring to shake Twan’s hand.

Student Janitorial Services cleaned the plunder out of the ring before we go to…

Wes Barkley vs. The Duke

The Duke has been a thorn in Wes Barkley’s side for a long time, and Barkley wants to make The Duke pay. The Duke was carried in through the front door on a throne a la King Haku. Barkley attacked at the bell and hit the Stroke, but Duke was able to roll to the floor. Barkley grabbed the Golden Boot and hit The Duke, but The Duke got his foot on the rope. Two Duke Drivers were enough for Duke to get the pinfall.

2 Out of 3 Falls: Joseline Navarro vs. Katie Arquette

Joseline Navarro and Katie Arquette have traded wins for months, so the obvious way to settle this feud is to win twice in one night. The fight went straight to the floor to start. Arquette and Navarro went to the top rope. Arquette tried for the superplex, but Joseline fought out. Arquette reconfigured and hit an exploder from the top. A piledriver only got a two count. Widow’s Peak from Joseline is only enough for two as well. A big right hand, and Joseline scored the first fall.

No rest period, so a woozy Arquette began to fight back. Joseline hit a crossbody while Arquette was hanging in the Tree of Woe. Joseline with more right hands, and Arquette is out cold. Ref Tom Dunn called for the bell, and Joseline won 2-0. Joseline continued the attack after the match as some of the fans booed.

Submit or Surrender Dog Collar Match: Dom Garrini vs. Casey Carrington IV (w/ Brian Carson and Jackson Stone)

The young upstart, Casey Carrington IV, set his sights on the lead trainer of the Academy and mainstay of AIW, Dom Garrini. Carrington took every opportunity to sneak attack and hide from Garrini, so Garrini showed the crowd at AIW3D he had a plan: a dog collar. Carrington, Stone, and Carson came out cosplaying as the Dudleys. Garrini came to the ring with The Chain by Fleetwood Mac blasting. Clemons tried to put the collar on Garrini, and Carrington took advantage with Jackson Stone’s help. They head to the floor, and Garrini is busted open bad. Jackson Stone hit the Wazzup headbutt. Garrini connected with a piledriver through a door to the floor. Carson tried to hold Garrini up for Stone to hit with a chair. Garrini ducked, and Carson ate the chair. Garrini and Carrington back in the ring, and Carrington kicked low. Carrington hung Garrini over the top rope, but Garrini wouldn’t surrender. Carrington called over some of the ringside crew to pull up the canvas and padding. Carrington DDTed Garrini onto the plywood. Garrini fought out and hit his own piledriver on to the plywood. Garrini tied Carrington up, and Carrington submitted.

We’re going to intermission to repair the ring.

BitcoinboiZ (Mikey Montgomery and Eric Taylor) vs. Members Only (Malcolm Cambridge and Calvin G. Lewis) vs. The Boys from Jollyville (Nasty Russ and T Money) vs. To Infinity and Beyond (Cheech Hernandez and Colin Delaney) Colin Delaney and Louis Lyndon

The tag team division in AIW is so strong. Let’s put two relative rookie teams and two veteran teams into a four-way and see who can get the win. The BitcoinboiZ had a couple bouncers join them for a little big fight feel. Colin entered by himself and told us Cheech wasn’t here and he found an Absolution legend to join him: Louis Lyndon of 9 to 5. Each team tried to one up each other. Fast and furious tornado-style action. The makeshift team of Lyndon and Delaney did not last as Lyndon kicked Delaney in the face. Members Only capitalized with a neck breaker/piledriver combo and pinned Delaney to win.

Pretty Boy Smooth vs. Isaiah Broner

Broner has been on a tear in AIW, facing the likes of Minoru Suzuki and Eddie Kingston. After Broner’s match last month, former Absolute Champion Pretty Boy Smooth attacked and challenged Broner for this match. Smooth and Broner traded chops in the corner to begin. Joseline Navarro, Smooth’s former partner in 40 Acres and Broner’s current significant other, is seated in the front row. Smooth tried to focus on Broner’s arm to counter the lariat, but Broner still connected with a lariat to knock down Smooth. Pinfall win for Broner.

Tim Donst vs. Kaplan

Kaplan pinned Tom Lawlor at Gangsta Rap Made Me Do It last month, and immediately called out Tim Donst, a former AIW Champion who hasn’t been in an AIW ring in almost a year. Kaplan cut a promo this week, making this one extremely personal. It’s chops, strikes, slaps, and elbows for quite a bit of time. Kaplan went to the floor and under the ring, throwing doors and tables into the ring. Donst was busted open. They brawled through the crowd. Donst couldn’t lift him for the suplex the first try, but got enough for the second. Kaplan set a door to bridge the guardrail and apron. Donst fought out of the suplex and powerbombed Kaplan into the guardrail. Donst climbed up top and hit a rolling senton through the door, but Kaplan kicked out at 2. Kaplan with an Oklahoma Stampede and powerslam through a chair, but Donst kicked out at 2. Donst rolled out of the way of the split-legged moonsault. Donst tried for La Magistral, but Kaplan sat down on it and got the win. The commentators said that Kaplan beat the “Mat Wrestling Machine” by countering a wrestling hold. Kaplan offered his hand, but Donst spit in his face and left through the front door.

AIW Tag Team Titles:  PME (Philly Collins and Marino Tenaglia) ( C ) vs. Bulking Season (Chuck Stone and Arthur MacArthur)

Bulking Season won their top contender status at Gangsta Rap Made Me Do It last month and were attacked by PME right after the match. The two teams split singles matches at AIW 3D, but these four homegrown, AIW Academy graduates know each other all too well. Bulking Season came out to Iron Man with a look inspired by the Road Warriors. PME’s early attempt to get disqualified failed, but PME were able to isolate Arthur MacArthur. MacArthur finally got the tag. Stone ducked a superkick, and Marino kicked the ref Porter O’Shea in the face. PME handcuffed Chuck Stone to the turnbuckle, but MacArthur had a key. They learned from Gangsta Rap Made Me Do It. Burger Time Slam, but Marino kicked out at 2. Bulking Season tried for Flying Burger, but they’re blocked. Powerplex from PME, but only a 2 count. Sunset Dreams from PME, but MacArthur kicked out at 2. First time someone kicked out of Sunset Dreams. Huge lariat from Chuck Stone. Boulder Shoulder (Doomsday shoulder block) and Bulking Season are your new Tag Team Champions! Both MacArthur and Stone celebrated with their parents.

Steve Guy introduced the Absolute Intense Champion Matt Cardona to relinquish the titles. Cardona said the only reason he’s relinquishing the titles is because he was allowed to pick the stipulation for the main event tonight. He said he has lost his smile. The ring crew came out and took the ropes down. Cardona said it will be a no ropes barbed wire match. He called himself Mr. AIW and the reason they sold out. He complained that he’s not the center of the poster, but Johnny Gargano was. Cardona killed time yelling at the crowd while the ring is wrapped in barbed wire. He finished by saying when he’s 100 percent, he’ll be back to reclaim his titles.

Nathan Zegura and Matt Wadsworth killed more time, giving more information about the rivalry and the challengers. Josh Bishop won the right to challenge for the Absolute Intense Championships at the Gauntlet for the Gold. Matt Cardona’s injury threw a wrench in that plan, so with a vacated title, the natural opponent became Derek Dillinger who has had as good a year as anybody. Dillinger has essentially been runner-up in a few of the recent moments of AIW: Cibernetico, Gauntlet for the Gold, Biggins Cup. Can a perennial number two overcome and take the top spot?

for the vacated Absolute Intense Titles: Derek Dillinger (w/ Ziggy Haim) vs Joshua Bishop

There were barbed wire boards in opposite corners. Dillinger and Haim entered wearing white, carrying a barbed wire covered chair and clapboard. Bishop had a barbed wire two by four. Surprisingly, Haim left the ring without incident. They locked up, with Dillinger avoiding the barbed wire after being pushed off. Bishop was the first to hit the wire, but Bishop threw Dillinger into the wire for his own taste. Both men bled as they rolled to the floor and fought around ringside. Dillinger used Haim as a weapon, until Haim’s dress started getting stained with blood. Back in the ring, Bishop smashed Dillinger with a chair. Dillinger locked in a figure four, but Bishop used the barbed wire two by four to grate into Dillinger’s leg. Death Valley Driver from Dillinger from the ring through a door to the floor. Dillinger grabbed the box Ziggy carried to the ring and poured thumbtacks out of it. Bishop with a desperation Death Valley Driver. Dillinger hit the Director’s Chair into the tacks and then followed with another bodyslam and a sunset powerbomb into the barbed wire door. Wes Barkley had enough of Ziggy’s interference and stopped the referee’s count. Dillinger punched Barkley, who fell into the barbed wire. Bishop tossed Dillinger into the thumb tacks for good measure and then a Black Hole Slam for a one count. Bishop Bomb into the barbed wire board got only a two count. Bishop with a Drunken Driver and the barbed wire two by four to the back of the win. Josh Bishop is your new three time Absolute and Intense Champion.

Notes: AIW President Matt Wadsworth and Nathan Zegura handled commentary. Zegura pushed the history of Absolution, win-loss records, and rivalries. Tom Dunn, Porter O’Shea, and Jake Clemons rotated referee duties. Johnny Gargano was the pre-show meet and greet, returning to one of his home promotions.

AIW returns with The First Annual Bill Alfonso Hardcore Tournament as part of the Great Lakes Wrestlefest on July 30, 2022. Then, The JT Lightning Invitational Tournament on August 19-20, 2022 at the Odeon in Cleveland with three events.
