BETTING TIPS FOR ANY MMA FIGHT

By Kendall Jenkins on 2022-06-30 09:39:00

MMA has gained a huge worldwide following over the past decade. Popular promotions – from the UFC to Fight Nights Global – have been the key drivers behind this surge in audience numbers. Additionally, betting culture has also helped increase the global reach of MMA.

Now, whenever there’s a big UFC PPV, millions of bets are placed. For instance, when Connor McGregor faced Khabib Nurmagomedov back in 2018, Twitter was buzzing with fans posting screenshots of the bets they had placed! It was a huge cultural event, and betting was all part of the glorious excitement and fun.

So, if you’re eager to start betting on MMA fights, you’re going to need a friendly helping hand – especially if you have no prior gambling experience. As such, here are some top tips for you and your MMA fan friends:

Analyze Predictions

Over the coming months, there’s going to be a lot of UFC events. Of course, this means you have plenty of opportunities to place bets on the different fights on the cards.

However, before doing this, you need to take a look at the UFC predictions. These will give you a stronger understanding of the moneyline consensus for each fighter, which is effectively a prediction of how likely they are to win the fight.

Remember, when a fighter has a positive moneyline (with a + sign), it means they’re the underdog. If a fighter has a negative moneyline (with a – sign), then this means that they’re the favorite to win!

As a beginner, you should be looking to place small bets on fighters who are the favorites to win. This is called ‘safe betting’ and is a good strategy for newbies to use initially, as they’re more likely to experience successful bets.

Check Fighter Records

In the world of MMA, they say, ‘You’re only as good as your last fight!’ This is why it’s important to check out the records of individual fighters prior to betting on them.

If a particular fighter has been on a winning streak, then you know that it’s generally safe to bet on them. However, if a fighter has been on a losing streak, it’s definitely a risk to bet a lump sum of money on that particular candidate to win (especially by TKO).

Avoid Betting On Individual Rounds

With MMA gambling, people are allowed to bet on who will win individual rounds. However, due to the unpredictability of many MMA fights, this is often a risky strategy. Instead, it’s a good idea to stick to simple moneyline bets on who will win the fight.

Lastly, Stay Within Your Budget

On fight night, you might be with your friends enjoying a good time. Naturally, this means it’s easy to get carried away by the action and excitement and make reckless gambling decisions. Whatever happens, try to avoid doing this.

At the start of the evening, allocate yourself a specified amount of funds to gamble with, and don’t go outside of it. This will ensure you gamble responsibly.
