OBVIOUS AND NO SO THINGS THAT MAKE WRESTLING SPECTACULAR

By Kendall Jenkins on 2022-05-16 11:08:00

Wrestling has not lost its popularity until today. Wrestling enthusiasts continue to attend wrestling shows, watch TV with WWE and even play wrestling-themed slots. Yes, you heard it right! Online casino game providers are designing Ethereum slots inspired by wrestling and fighting in general.

Many people absolutely do not understand why others like such a competition as wrestling, but sometimes it really surpasses the popularity of many professional contests of various martial arts. After all, it's a stage show, and the techniques involved in wrestling have nothing to do with reality. But people enjoy it. So why is it so?

Reasons Why Wrestling Is So Popular

Well, it's pretty simple and can be explained with just one counter-question: why do people like movies, TV shows, theater performances, and fiction books? The same thing - everything is fiction, but people sympathize with the protagonists in works of fiction, and that's the same reason why people like wrestling.

Generally, we can say that from the late XIX century to the present time, wrestling has evolved in two directions: on the one hand, it became an Olympic sport of wrestling, and on the other, it became a ring performance. From 1880 to 1930, "French wrestling" became very popular, where the fights were held in circuses, the wrestlers performed with images, they had their fan teams, the competitions were as much staged as now, around the wrestlers formed the same mythology as now, and so on.

?ombat sport is exceptionally boring, especially since the modern world of combat sport is compromised, and even in dreams, no one would call it real and honest. Therefore, if fakes are everywhere, it's better to look at beautiful fakes accompanied by a plot. That is also the reason why professional boxing has more fans than Olympic boxing.

If you consider WWE as a TV series with a no-holds-barred fighting technique, everything becomes obviously better. The staged brutality is one of the best on American TV, with pretty good storylines. Moreover, wrestling is a vast cultural heritage, which does not just show spectacular fights of pumped-up men in the ring. If we go deeper, each wrestler has a story of their emergence in the industry and their formation in WWE. Hundreds of thousands of people watching WWE since they were young, enjoying their favorite heroes' victories and worrying about their defeats.

A striking example is The Undertaker wrestler winning streak in WWE. He defeated his opponents for 21 years on the biggest show of the year called "Wrestlemania." He became a legend of this sport, inspiring horror, and respect from athletes and his fans. Unfortunately, in 2014, he lost. And guess what? People were crying and shocked because the unthinkable had happened - an entire era was gone. People enjoy watching wrestling precisely for those kinds of moments and athletes.

Wrestling is more of a show with huge and not so huge fighters, with a support group, a sprung floor, gestures, body movements, and loud cheers. On the ring, wrestlers can be enemies, but outside of it, they are buddies. Some say this is an American theater, with intrigue, treason, betrayal, etc. The audience sits in the lounge or watches TV with friends, eating snacks and drinking beer to unwind after a hard-working day. Besides, such shows are loved by viewers of both sexes, which ensures the popularity of this TV product.

Interestingly, in the CIS countries, starting from the nineties, producers have repeatedly tried to promote wrestling. If, for example, mixed martial arts tournaments have become extremely popular, in the case of wrestling tournaments, it did not happen. The CIS audience simply did not like such an obviously staged show. Neither American soccer nor baseball are popular in such countries, although they are highly successful sports in the U.S. and many other countries.

For instance, in the USA, wrestling is more popular than the UFC, and fighters often consider it beneficial to leave the UFC for wrestling, as the famous UFC fighter Ronda Rousey did.

Conclusion

Millions of people still love to watch WWE these days for its extraordinary characters, the chance to sit a few feet away from their favorite superstars while they perform their craft at the highest level, and most importantly, for the spirit of rivalry!

Everyone who gave wrestling a chance will understand what this article is about, and those who criticize this show without even watching it don't know what they are losing!
