WHAT ECW FEUD DREW BEST, NWA HOUSTON, SATURDAY NIGHT'S MAIN EVENT AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2022-05-14 10:00:00

Looking back, in your opinion what was the biggest drawing ECW match? Like the equivalent of Andre vs. Hogan at Wrestlemania 3. Also, what ECW match would you say is the pinnacle of their craft? Like the Steamboat-Flair or Shawn-Bret (or whatever you see as the best) of ECW.

The best drawing feud in ECW history in terms of tickets sold was The Dudley Boyz vs. Tommy Dreamer, Sandman, Spike Dudley, New Jack, etc. after the Dudleys "broke" Beulah McGuillicuty's neck in 1998. 1998 was the best year for ECW financially.  To me, the best era of ECW was February 1994-April 1997. The pinnacle of the company from a pro wrestling standpoint was easily Eddie Guerrero vs. Dean Malenko.

Any idea who owns the rights to the old Paul Boesch tapes from Houston?

I believe the rights to those are held by Billy Corgan.

Why hasn't NBC and WWE continues on with Saturday Night's Main Event specials?

They aren't needed.  You have to remember during the early days of SNME, the shows were unique attractions with top names wrestling. Now, you get that every week on TV so they had basically become just another wrestling show. There was nothing unique about the more recent ones and they never developed into ratings draws, so better to focus elsewhere.

What wrestlers should be in the WWE Hall of Fame that are still not inducted?

Kamala, Bam Bam Bigelow, Ivan Koloff, Dynamite Kid, Dick Murdoch, Demolition all come to mind.

Why were the Bad Breed called Terry Funk's Few Good Men in ECW?

It was a play off the film "A Few Good Men", which was the top movie in America around that time period.
