Has Cody's biggest mistake been massively overestimating his own importance and popularity? His entire presentation in his AEW run seemed to be trying to convince people he was a big star without really being on that level. The suits, the promos, the elaborate entrance all gave the impression that Cody considered himself more important than anybody else. There's probably more to be said on this but I'll keep it short and sweet.
I don’t know what he is getting paid from WWE so I can’t say for sure if it was a mistake on his part but my hunch is that he was making more in AEW, plus he was an executive so he was entitled to benefits as well. Add in the two TV shows and I see even more money out the table. So my guess is he will make less in WWE and probably be in a lesser position. But, he knew he was making a power play and when someone does that, they have to accept that it could go against them if the other party, in this case Tony Khan, don’t agree with them on what they are worth.
Why would WWE strike a deal with Hulu for only a portion of Raw but the entire episode of Smackdown for next day replays? How does that make any sense?
They did the Hulu deal in 2018, if memory serves, and the landscape was much different then. Disney, Fox and NBC all owned a third of it. They probably took that deal because it was the best one out there. Since then, Disney bought out FOX and will probably do the same to NBC in a couple of years. WWE is sure when that deal expires later this year they will get a better one. My guess is it will come from Peacock and it will probably be for the whole show.
Do you think that WWE pay-per-views with only men’s matches and no women’s matches are a thing of the past?
Yes.
Last night on NXT 2.0 they had Io and KLR win the Dusty Cup and money in the bank themselves a shot at Mandy's title instead of a tag title match. Even with the gimmicks, Dakota Kai and Wendy Choo have made a pretty good team, toning down the comedy a bit. Kai has even had some character development. Why not just have Kai and Choo win the Dusty and find another way for KLR and Io to enter the title match? If there was a legit reason they couldn't do the tag title match for a bit, just wait to do it. It feels like anytime Kai gets something going for her, they pull it. Unless there are plans for them as a team post Mania weekend, do you think this is the end of the NXT road for Kai therefore a main roster call-up? I know it sounds repetitive but the reason is that is what they want to do. A lot of people can come up with ideas that I think are better than what WWE does but it’s up to Vince McMahon to listen. As for Kai, it wouldn’t shock me to see her get called up. She’s great and WWE does call ups after Mania every year.
Would you be personally interested in an Undertaker sci fi, supernatural action movie? And do you think it could be a hit if WWE put its all into it? You’d think thats one gimmick that could easily translate to Hollywood, right. And even though Taker is in his mid 50’s, they could probably get 3 films out of it.
Personally? No, I wouldn’t be interested but I am not a movie guy. Do I think it would be a hit? Well, WWE owns a movie division. And, they did a film with Taker at WrestleMania, so it’s not like they aren’t aware it’s an option. My gut feeling is that if anyone thought there was money to be made, they would be doing it (provided Taker wants to, which he may not).
