BROCK LESNAR TALKS HIS CAREER, LIFE, WHY HE DISAPPEARS, NEVER WRESTLING AUSTIN, WALKING OUT OF WWE EARLY IN HIS CAREER, UFC, WHETHER A FAN HAS EVER TRIED TO FIGHT HIM, THE WEE MAN INCIDENT, WHAT HE WANTS TO SEE YOUNGER STARS DO AND TONS MORE: BROCK ON PAT MCAFEE SHOW RECAP

By Mike Johnson on 2022-02-14 14:43:00

Brock Lesnar is currently appearing in studio on today's edition of The Pat McAfee Show.

*After putting each other over (with Lesnar stating McAfee makes Smackdown as an announcer), Lesnar was asked about getting into WWE.  He noted he began wrestling at 5 years old while growing up on a Dairy Farm in South Dakota but didn't grow up a fan as he didn't watch a lot of TV as they were busy working the farm.  When he was in the college, Raw and Nitro would be on in the dorms and he saw WWE for the first time, then they began calling him about coming in after he was recruited by The University of Minnesota.  He thought it might be a cool way to make a living.

*McAfee noted he was told to present and treat Brock as if he was a grown up version of "Bam Bam" from The Flintstones noting his big hands and huge strength - this was right after Lesnar accidentally on purpose smashed McAfee's table.  He described Lesnar as an "Alpha-Male of our species" and if they had to send someone to defend the Earth from aliens, everyone would send Brock.  Brock said that he's never envisioned himself like that and just drove himself with hard work and tried to be humble.

*Lesnar said he grew up six years younger than his brothers and locally, the family had the reputation for fighting.  Lesnar said he would go to dances to fight and then meet girls after.  He said his older brothers would get out of jail to go to school on Mondays.  It was World War 3 growing up and he was putting his brothers through a kitchen tables and china cabinets when he grew up and was "tired of their sh**."   They put his parents through hell.

*On UFC, Lesnar said he always comfortable in the cage and spent a lot of money to get the best preparation and team.  He said he was really upset he got caught by a knee bar against Frank Mir in his first fight because he spent so much time preparing for it.  He only had a one fight deal and asked Dana White for another shot.  He fought Heath Herring and Randy Couture and won the belt.

*Lesnar was asked about dealing with Dana White then and now.  Brock said that Dana's alright and "I got a lot of money from him" but probably "should have made more, maybe."  He said he really can't compare Vince McMahon to Dana White.  He and Vince have a love/hate relationship over the years and they have a lot of water under the bridge and get along well now.  He learned a lot from Vince and looks at him as a father figure.  His experiences with Vince taught him how to go and deal with Dana White.

*Lesnar was asked whether he considers himself a good businessman.  Lesnar said he just handles things old school and doesn't spend money foolishly,  McAfee said Lesnar doesn't have anyone around him in a ten mile radius when home.

*Brock was asked about what goes on in his day to day life.  He explained that he came across the farm in Saskatchewan that he owns because he was hunting up there but you had to be a resident in Canada to own land.  So, they moved there to become a resident and as more and more land came up for sale, he would purchase and make land investments with his money.  He grew up as a farm kid dirt poor and now that he had money, he wanted to get a crack at doing it.  He said wanted his kids to learn how to work and that they weren't getting any free ride and told them get out there and "start picking up stones."  They have file acres of fine grain they farm.

*When COVID hit, his deal with Vince was up but even before that he was into his hunting and fishing and being low key.  Bow hunting, snowmobiling, rifle hunting.   Lesnar built a "big ass" butcher shop that needs to be bigger.  When everything was on lockdown, he was watching YouTube to learn how to butcher meat.  He loves to grind his own meat up and he's come out with a seasoning in conjunction with The Bearded Butchers.

*Lesnar said he was probably born in "the wrong century" when it comes to being compared to vikings.  He said that it take a village to raise someone but if you can find a coach that "gives a sh**" out of you and help you when you make mistakes, it makes all the difference.

*On the Wee Man incident, Lesnar said that it wasn't staged at all.  He scurries through people and wants to get in and be left alone to eat his steak.  He had a private room and his buddy told him the Jackass crew was there.  He sent them a bottle of wine.   Johnny Knoxville "breaks the door down" and gets into his private room, so he came out to see them.  He's just leaving and going to bed.  Wee Man stands up and peacocks him, so Lesnar picked him up and decided to put him down right there.  None of it was stage but it turned out to be really fun and good for business.  He said he didn't know if the place was going to call the cops so he just started tossing out money and walked out.

*Lesnar was asked who he has a lot of respect he has within the pro wrestling business and his own legacy as so many put him on their personal Mount Rushmore for pro wrestling.  Lesnar said he doesn't care about being in the Hall of Fame or leaving a legacy.  He cares about being a good person and dad.  That is what's important to him.  It's a business about making money.  Everything is about making dollar bills.  Lesnar feels fortunate that he can still be on top and generate money as part a company Vince McMahon helped skyrocket and to go to the Elimination Chamber PPV.  It's the first time he's ever been in the Chamber.  He's excited for it.  The Chamber doesn't scare him as "I fought in the Octagon for F**'s sake."  This is what he's meant to do - what else would he do?  He tried his hand at football.  What else is he going to do?  He's having a great time.

*Lesnar said right now he's a good guy and got f***ed over by Paul Heyman, so he's going to go win the title back this weekend so they can do title vs. title at Wrestlemania.

*On how he feels physically, Lesnar said really good, noting he's had the same trainer for the last ten years and got away from free weights about 10-12 years ago

*On how long he wants to keep going, Lesnar joked as long as the dollar bills keep coming.  Lesnar has been really wise financially and doesn't have to keep doing this.  He does it because he likes it.  He said he was almost bankrupt during his first run.  He got paid a lot of money and six months later he told Vince McMahon to go screw himself.  He understands looking back why Vince felt the way he did.  He wasn't done but needed to go do what he needed to do.  If he hadn't left, he wouldn't in UFC and all that stuff.  Lesnar said he made his own name and paved his own road.  He came back and established what he wanted and how he was going to do it.

*McAfee feels Lesnar looks and performs better than he ever has.  Lesnar agreed and said he's got his body feeling right and his nutrition down.  He said as you get older, you get wiser.

*Lesnar said he has no different mindset preparing for UFC or WWE.  He loves the sh** out of it and still gets butterflies.  You have to "half batsh**" crazy to enter the Octagon.  He ordered one so he didn't have the jitters of being in one for the first time but then you are in front of 20,000 people and they shut the door for the first time and you are like, "OK, here we go."

*Lesnar said he's having a good time now in WWE and wants to show a different side of himself.  He joked he gets a free cowboy hat when you buy 10,000 acres of land in Saskatchewan.  He likes cowboys.  There is nothing else like WWE and it's addictive.  He can still go out there and wants to put on a good show.  In UFC, he was the same, he wanted to go and kick ass.  He said there's so many guys in UFC now, it's hard to follow.  He wishes Dana would book a little differently and protect guys to make stars.  Instead, he puts on super fights and it's hard to stay on top.

*On the WWE locker room, Lesnar said he's now the old bastard in the locker room where the top guys were Steve Austin and The Undertaker.  He said it's time some of the younger guys figure out "how to get f***ing over" and come try and take the top spot.  He said they need to put asses in seats, not worry about their next high spot.  They need to worry about how to make money.    The young generation thinks they need to go out and do the same move over and over.  That's not what works.  It's good guy vs. bad guy, Holyfield vs. Tyson and stories.  The cool thing about coming back was the story of being with Paul Heyman for so long and now he's with Roman.  The Brock we see now is who he really is.

*The origin of the ponytail is he was getting a haircut and his kids bet him he wouldn't wear it in the ring.

*On talents he wanted to wrestle but never got the chance, Brock pointed out Steve Austin.  He had the chance to wrestle Hulk Hogan, The Undertaker and Ric Flair but not Austin.  McAfee told a story about Brock's awesome Austin impression during a dinner.  He said he doesn't hold a grudge against Austin for walking out when they were supposed to wrestle because business is business and he had good mentors from the start.

*Wee Man was the first person to try Brock Lesnar in two decades.

*On what he hunts, he has Moose, Elf, weasels, coyotes and several different types of Deer on his property.

*Lesnar was asked when he realized he was "incredible at fighting" and he said back in the 80s in school, they'd let them just fight outside in South Dakota but don't bring it in the classroom.

*After performing on a show like the Royal Rumble main event in St. Louis, Lesnar has a "total crash" where he needs to be away from people and on his property and that's his way of dealing with the anxiety of being in front of so many.  It's always been that way for him.  He used to be on the road and have big matches in High School and big arenas.  He's "awkward as f***" and doesn't want to be around people.  He has to put on a show and then get away from the people.  It's not that he doesn't like people, but likes to be "left the f***" alone.  Being in front of an audience drains him and he needs to go home and recharge.

*Lesnar was asked about the fan in Brooklyn going after Seth Rollins on Raw and whether a fan has ever tried that with him.  Lesnar, half joking, said he "F***ing dares" someone to try that with him.

*They plugged that Raw was live in Indianapolis.

This was an absolutely great conversation with Brock really coming out of his shell.  McAfee got way more out of Brock than anyone could have expected and it was obvious Lesnar likes him and gave him a ton of time and insight.  You can watch the interview below:
