Wrestling Open Episode 4

1/27/22 - Worcester,MA

Streaming on IWTV.live

Wrestling Open hits its 4th week and we have our first real Wrestling Open debut from well outside of the Northeast as the Southeast’s Damyan Tangra has made the journey up to Worcester…and after AC Mack’s IWTV win and subsequent promo,  what a week for someone from down there to show up here. In your main event, we have a clash between Shook Crew’s Bobby Orlando and the number one man who got in their business last week, Ichiban!

Spotlight Match: Alex Reyes vs “The Last Entertainer” Encore

Encore has a great fun entrance. Reyes is clearly here for business and not dancing. Reyes works several quick pin attempts, Encore tries a backslide and a sunset flip and evens out the attempts to end this early. Reyes with a dropkick and a one count. Encore fights out of a headlock with the crowd behind him….Reyes bounces him off the mat with a backdrop for two. Encore dodges a back elbow, whips Reyes to the buckles back and forth, back suplex and it’s SHOWWEWWWTIME! Reyes fights out of the ripcord…Encore with the enziguri and a high angle uranage for the win!

Winner: Encore

We’re ready to go live on IWTV! There’s beef empanadas and pizza sticks at concessions tonight. Paul Crockett is at the commentary table….and Denver Colorado is there too! Rich Palladino is your announcer. Let’s goooooo!

Match 1: “The Narcissistic Rock Star” Karlo Vice vs Rex Lawless

Vice wants to pose. Rex wants to cave his chest in. Lawless throws Vice out of the corner across the ring after a big one arm deadlift. Big loud chops to the chest and Vice looks PAINED. Karlo grabs an armbar but Rex just slams him out of it. Karlo jacks the arm off the top rope but Rex just big boots him on the apron. Inside out superplex! Rex sets up and hits a torture rack facebuster for the emphatic pin. Rex’s arm was in trouble…but not that much trouble. Good win.

Winner: Rex Lawless

Match 2: “The Mat Scientist” Damyan Tangra vs “The Tattooed Torture Expert” Blaxstrom

I can hear Denver Colorado praising Tangra for having the balls to come up to Wrestling Open (unlike AC Mack). Someone knows what’s up as I hear a “Southeast LAST” shout. Blaxstrom tries to tie up the wrist but Tangra chops his way free. Blaxstrom with a kneedrop to the shoulder and spinning lariat for two. Hip toss into an armbar, Tangra gets a foot to the rope and Blaxstrom is looking annoyed. Some Kawada kicks wake him up and Tangra hits a Bulgarian gutbuster. Trading forearms in the center. DVD for two! Blaxstrom grabs a kimura, Flatliner from Tangra and he gets the three! The crowd just met him but they know what part of the country he’s from. Boooo they say! Solid match but this crowd doesn’t know Blaxstrom well yet so the loss doesn’t really take anything from us. Now if Tangra comes back and taps out LOVE DOUG? Oh my.

Winner: Damyan Tangra

Match 3: Members Only (Elijah Six & Sammy Diaz) vs The Haven (Jay Oynx & Shawn Knyte)

Knyte takes a shot at Six on the apron and Diaz ambushes him. Knyte taking an early beating. Big backbreaker from Diaz for two. Knyte hits a dropkick to Six and Al oxy gets the tag but Diaz cuts it off. Knyte finally rolls through the tag. Onyx in! Double team popup splash! Onyx with a piledriver. Knyte eats knees off the top. Onyx sent flying to the outside by Six. Knyte killed in the center with a running knee, euro uppercut combo.

Winners: Members Only

Match 4: “The Gladiator of the Geeks” Riley Shepard vs Little Mean Kathleen

The crowd is truly willing LMK vs Nick Gage into existence, huh? LMK points out this was the open challenge that was supposed to happen at WWR+, like FOREVER ago. LMK winning a test of strength until Riley firing back. LMK with a rollup and backslide attempt for two. Riley jacked into the rope but she throws LMK off a Dudley dog. Big backbreaker and Riley tries to break her over the knee. LMK with knees! Head scissor takedown! Running stomps! LMK with the running bulldog and that’s the pin! Good fun fan favorite match here.

Winner: LMK

Match 5: Pedro Dones vs Love Doug

Dones wants nothing to do with love…or Doug. Dones torturing the shoulder and throwing punches to the gut. This is all Pedro until Doug gets a knee up…then Dones hits a shoulder breaker for two. The crowd willing Doug back to life…rebound flying lariat for the win! This was a prolonged beatdown with a flash finish. We love Doug!

Winner: Love Doug

Match 6: CPA vs Ray Jaz

“Confidence is Everything” is your Jaz tip of the day. On the upside, I get to watch a CPA match! CPA’s clip on tie saves him from a headlock takeover. Jaz fights off a monkey flip and dumps CPA’s face into the buckles. Jaz with an exploder sends CPA across the ring. Jaz with the offense, CPA resilient and backdrops free. Nice methodical execution of a Form-619. Dropkick off the top! Jaz kicks out! Jaz escapes a DVD, catches a dive into a cradle powerbomb for the three! Jaz is impressive but I just want to throw rocks at him.

Winner: Ray Jaz

Match 7: Edith Surreal vs Kennedi Copeland

Well now! Surreal wants a test of strength. Kennedi locks it up, Surreal takes her down and twists up the wrist. Copeland reverses into a head scissor. Headstand fake out escape, rolls into a headlock. Surreal with a cravat, Copeland chops free, backslide kick out by Kennedi. Bulldog and senton has Edith out at two. Surreal grabs the neck again. YASS. Edith comes running right into a lariat! Thez Press, Copeland tries an armbar. Codebreaker to the arm! Running dropkick for two! Surreal with a dropkick to the back. Kickout! Copeland gets the armbar, Surreal rolls it to the ropes. Copeland trying to lock the arms up again, Surreal twists it into a ddt for the pin!

Winner: Edith Surreal

Match 8: Antonio Zambrano vs Teddy Goodz

Zambrano seems to forget what happened to him last week in his wrestling lesson with Professor Daniel Barry. He gets right to taunting and tries to dominate but the Cojo King meets him chop for chop. Zambrano with a elbow drop for two…runs into a boot but slams Teddy for another two. Teddy has an atomic drop for his nuts and a bunch of back elbows. Teddy with a backpack stunner and that’s the ball game.

Winner: Teddy Goodz

Sidney Bakabella is here. It’s time for our WORLD CLASS moment of the night. He has a small stare down with Teddy Goodz on his way out. Hm. Of course, Channing Thomas is soon to follow. The crowd is absolutely bananas for this. Sidney doesn’t talk to us…we already KNOW Channing Thomas is WORLD CLASS…and a BABYFACE…and a HERO…and a ROLE MODEL…and a <checks notes>…BABYFACE. <nods> Sidney grabs a spot at the commentary table and talks to the people at home on IWTV. Thomas keeps the crowd in the room transfixed while Bakabella sends his message out to the masses. This is the best part of my week. He doesn’t need to talk to us. Just reach out. Channing Thomas is there. See you next Thursday.

Match 9: “All Balls” Kevin Giza vs “Megasus” Megan Bayne

Hahahahahahahaha…he throws his glove at her. Megasus floors him. Big electric chair German and Giza is trying to beat the count. Bayne gives chase, he posts her and almost gets a pin off it. Giza hits a BEAUTIFUL splash to the apron. Frogsplash from the top, two count! “You are not ready to wrestle men!” Yells Giza. “YOU F***ED UP!” Yells the crowd. Megan beats the crap out of him. He rakes the eyes, jumps into a back stabber. Code red back stabber variation! Two count! Giza fights out of a superplex, high kick, jaw Jack on the top rope! Slingshot into a spear! Bayne tombstones his dumb face into the mat for the three. Whew, that was some cheap heat but it sure got some HEAT on Giza.

Winner: Megan Bayne

Match 10: “Fancy” Ryan Clancy vs Kylon King (w/ Dustin Waller)

Waller is on crutches tonight but out to support his partner. Kylon and Clancy circle with a decent split crowd behind them. They grapple early but King levels Clancy with a dropkick. King with a slingshot but Clancy hits the ropes and he wipes out. Knees to the gut of Kylon. Big slam and elbow drop! Two count! Suplex face buster! King whipped into a knee but they both look hurt on that. Clancy with shoulders to the gut but King catches him running into the buckle. Springboard crossbody hits nothing, Clancy dropping more knees. King fights back, exploder suplex! Slingshot crossbody! Clancy is crushed and stays down for the count!

Winner: Kylon King

Sam Laterna is out for a post match word with Miracle generation. King is still upset with Shook Crew for their attacks. They…should BE shook.

Match 11: Brick City Boyz (JCruz & Victor Chase) vs The Mane Event (Midas Black & Jay Lyon)

I love this matchup. Lyon on fire first, dropping Chase with a big neckbreaker. Midas in with Cruz and wheelbarrows him into a face plant. Chase runs interference on the top rope and Cruz takes advantage. Chase stomps Black out and they force a split on his nethers. Lyon gets the tag, Chase wiped out on the apron. Cruz dropped on his back, lionsault for two! Midas up top again, cuts off Chase, tbrows himself into Chase. Wheelbarrow cutter into a faceplant. Chase saves his partner and they try to put Lyon away. Northern lights toss for two! Chase tries to pull off the mask, Midas makes the save. Both teams slugging it out, Mane Event and BCB rolling into an all out brawl. The ref can’t get control and calls for the bell!

Winner: No Contest

Main Event: Bobby Orlando (w/ Bobby Junior) vs Ichiban

“Ichiban? Number ZERO” says Orlando. They scream 0 & 1 at each other into the lockup. Ichiban with the headlock, Orlando with a shoulder block, Ichiban with a high angle armdrag and Orlando is reeling. Orlando escapes a bunch of punches, Ichiban with the suicide dive. Orlando battles back and can only get a one count. Snap mare knees to the back, Orlando puts a knee to the spine and stretches number one. He calls for the Bobby Bomb but gets backdropped instead. Bobby eats a few punches and drops Ichiban to the buckle face first. Ichiban dropped again…for a one! Bobby throwing some zero punches in the corner, Ichiban bombs him out of the corner. Trading shots to their feet. Ichiban landing over and over! Flying forearm! Shotgun dropkick to the corner, handspring back elbow! Bobby finally eats those punches and crumbles! Huuuuge top rope elbow for two. Such height!  Bobby tries to reverse into a powerbomb, chops the throat and hits a cutter for two! Bobby misses a moonsault…Delay Code Red for two! Ichiban to the top, Bobby hits the ropes and crotches him. Orlando tries for a superplex, rakes the eyes as Ichiban fights out, AA off the top goes clear across the ring! Ichiban kicks out! Orlando is frustrated and rains blows down on the mask of Ichiban. He calls for a Bobby Buster, Ichiban reverses the weight and small packages Orlando for the three count!

Winner: Ichiban

Bobby grabs the mic. He refuses to accept the loss. Let’s do it again. Next week, he’s bringing Bryce Donovan and Ichiban should see if he has any friends. I can think of someone :)

And that’s it for Week 4! Wrestling Open continues to build its audience and energy. Orlando and Ichiban provided a real fun main event. We got some storyline movement in the brewed feud between Northeast & Southeast wrestling. The show also served to highlight the upcoming WWR+ show on SuperBowl Sunday! So many matches for a two hour show, my mind is reeling but the quick contests are helping introduce a lot of newer people to the crowd, keep their attention and energy high and moving fast to the next thing without breaking a sweat. This is not Uncharted Territory. Hell, I would hesitate to call this Beyond. This is something different and I’m excited to watch it grow week by week. See you next Thursday. Until then!
