LAREDO KID VS. BLAKE CHRISTIAN: IMPACT WRESTLING BTI - BEFORE THE IMPACT REPORT

By Mike Johnson on 2022-01-27 20:01:00

Welcome to the BTI - Before the Impact Report!

Josh Mathews and Gia Miller welcomed everyone to BTI.

They went into highlights of Charlie Haas vs. Josh Alexander last week in the Impact on AXS main event, followed by Honor No More attacking Alexander:

They locked up and jockeyed for position, trying to outgrapple the other.  They went into a series of holds and reversals.  They faced off and locked up again, with Haas grabbing a side headlock.  Haas shoulderblocked Alexander down and they went into a series of near falls.  Haas caught Alexander in the corner with a knee.  Alexander fought back to drill him with a kick that sent him to the floor.

After a commercial break, Alexander was peppering Haas with a series of forearms.  Haas avoided a charge in the corner and attacked Alexander's knee.  He made that the focus of his strategic attack, snapping the leg against the apron and drilling him against the ring post.  Haas brought Alexander back to the ring and continued attacking him, drilling Alexander down to the mat with a running knee.    Haas tied up Alexander's legs on the mat.  They fired back and forth with punches while intertwined on the ropes.

Haas rolled through a rolling senton attempt.  Alexander caught him with a backslide.  Alexander caught Haas with a series of rolling suplexes.  Haas reversed and began unloading German suplexes of his own.  Alexander nailed a bridging suplex for a two count.  Haas charged Alexander and ended up smashed himself into the buckles.  He nailed a belly to bell suplex.  He locked on a single-leg crab.  Alexander fought his way out and reversed the anklelock.Haas fought to roll through but  Alexander grapevined his ankle in the anklelock and Haas tapped.  It was obvious once Haas smashed the buckles he was more and more rocked and his timing was off, which was unfortunate as this was pretty good until then.

Your winner, Josh Alexander!

They showed highlights of Tasha Steelz defeating Chelsea Green last week.  Steelz took the mic and called out Mickie James, congratulating her for being done playing with the Barbie dolls and retaining at Hard To Kill.  She told James now she was dealing with the wrong side of the street that her parents warned her about, where savages like Steelz were lurking.  She said they were going to get dirty and nasty.  James smiled and watched on.  Steelz said she had a spoiler alert for when they face off.  She's going to send James back to Crapsville, Virginia as a failure. She said she was going to send James back to her husband a failure, and then said she was going to send Mickie back to her son a failure.  That got to James, who went to hit the ring.   Savannah stepped in James' way but Steelz told her to let James in the ring.  James entered and they started slugging it out.  James avoided a DDT and went to her one of her own but Evans blindsided her and beat James down.  Green made the save for James and they cleared the ring.

They then showed highlights of Decay vs. The Influence last week.

Kaleb with A K went right after Rosemary outside, so she barked at him, questioning what he was trying to do.  They distraction allowed The Influence to attack Havok and knock her out of the ring.  They grabbed Rosemary and drilled her into the corner shoulder-first and she went down.  Referee Brian Hebner called for medical assistance.  The Influence celebrated taking photos as Rosemary was taken out.  This was an angle done to cover a legitimate shoulder issue as we reported last week.

Rosemary sent Havok to the ring for a handicap match.  Kaleb joined Hannifan on the commentary.

The Influence worked over Havok for a long time, tagging in and out, controlling the ring.  They went for a double Skull Crushing Finale and scored the pin.

They locked up.  Gresham went for a hammerlock but Maclin went for the ropes, so he's down to one rope break.  Gresham offered his hand but Maclin punched him.  He was warned for using the fist, which is against the Pure Wrestling rules.

Maclin tied up Gresham on the mat and blasted him with a clubbing forearm across the face.  He nailed a butterfly backbreaker for a two count, then grabbed a waistlock, trying to muscle Gresham.  Gresham used the ropes to break it, now they are down to one each.  Maclin drilled him across the back and whipped Gresham with authority into the ropes.  Gresham was snapped into the ropes again and appeared to be going up and over out of the buckles, but instead crashed down to the mat.

Maclin nailed an Olympic Slam for a two count, then cinched in a Boston Crab in the center of the ring.  Gresham made it to the ropes, so he had zero rope breaks left.  Maclin began stomping the hell out of him.   Maclin cinched in a Camel Clutch.  Gresham grabbed the ropes but he had no breaks left.  Gresham finally pulled at the fingers to break it.  He began drilling away with shots on Maclin but was scooped and slammed hard several times.  They battled back and forth.  Gresham kept going for a back suplex but Maclin escaped.  Gresham nailed a shotgun dropkick off the buckles.  Gresham tied up Maclin on the mat for a two count.  Maclin tied him to the tree of woe and nailed a spear into the corner while Gresham was upside down.  He went for a back suplex but Gresham escaped.

Gresham went after the knee.  Maclin grabbed the ropes, so there's no rope breaks for either side.  Gresham nailed several hard-hitting clubbing forearms to the jaw for a two count.  Maclin nailed a lariat for a near fall.  Hell of a match!

Maclin went for Mayhem for All but his knee went out.  Gresham locked on a figure four leglock and Maclin tried to survive but had no rope breaks. They slapped and chopped each other in the move.  They had several near falls while locked in the move.  Maclin rolled over but Gresham kept going.  Gresham used the ropes for leverage and finally pinned Maclin as he was trapped in the move.

Your winner and still ROH Champion, Jonathan Gresham!

They locked up again and had some really nice back and forth action with some near falls before facing off.  The audience applauded them.  They shook hands to show each other respect but Christian caught Laredo with a kick.  Kid nailed a head scissors takedown.    Kid nailed a springboard high cross bodyblock for a two count, then dropkicked Christian to the floor.

Laredo went for a moonsault off the apron but only caught him fleetingly.  Christian tried to do the same, then nailed a big tope to the floor in the aisle.  Blake tossed him back into the ring for a two count.  Christian rolled him up for a two count and followed up with an enziguiri.

Christian placed him on the top and scored with several kicks and a rana for a two count.  Laredo Kid made a comeback and scored with a moonsault to the floor.

Christian was nailed with a 450 splash off then top but barely kicked out. They battled back and forth.  Christian nailed a springboard frog splash for a two count.  Christian went back to the top but missed a double stomp.  Laredo elevated him over the top but was shot with a hard right.  Christian went to the top but Laredo shocked him with a top rope Spanish Fly for the pin.
