WWE'S TRADEMARK MISTAKE, MUSTAFA ALI'S STATUS, SONJAY & SCOTTY WERE BEYOND SMART AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2022-01-20 10:00:00

Do you think WWE purposely trademarked that Gunther Stark name knowing the terrible background it has in history?

No, I guarantee you there is no way a publicly traded company would have willingly done that, WWE or not.  It's too insane for them to have been that insipid and walk into the obvious public relations mess.  My guess as to what happened is someone came up with the name and it was signed off on without anyone doing due diligence, which obviously SHOULD have happened.  I am going to wager that going forward, there will be a far stronger vetting process for future ring names, as there should be, as this situation was an absolute embarassment.  WWE should be thankful the full name never made it to TV because of the online backlash.

Is Mustafa Ali released yet?

As of today, he is still officially with the company, despite asking for a release.

When it AEW going to run California?  With the PWG connection, the Bucks, etc., it's a no-brainer.

My guess is that it happens within the next year once they figure out routing to make a series of dates in the Southwest work.  Everything obviously is pending COVID and California has been hit pretty hard there so I don't blame AEW for being conservative with their touring to the Golden State.

How long until NXT UK gets swallowed up by the black hole of creative despair?

Let's hope that doesn't happen, but chances are sooner or later, it's going to follow the path of WWE NXT.

 …”Gunther”?

Gunther.

I find it interesting that Scotty 2 Hotty left NXT several weeks before the Great Culling of Triple H’s herd. Do you think he saw the writing on the wall and decided to get out of dodge before WWE set their sights on him?

I think it was pretty obvious that Scotty and Sonjay Dutt before him saw the writing on the wall and got out of dodge.  It was extremely smart for each of them as what they signed up for at WWE NXT and the Performance Center was changing rapidly from what they expected it to be.  They got ahead of the wave of firings and did so on their own terms to figure out what was next for them professionally, without any guarantees.  You have to respect that.
