TRADING TITLES, RIC FLAIR LEAVING WWE, DO THE BUCKS EVER LOSE AND MORE

When was the last time the Young Bucks have actually lost a match?

I don’t keep count but I know they lost to the Lucha Bros. at All Out in September.  But your point is well taken.  To be fair, AEW books them as the best in the universe. As such, it’s expected that they will win most of the time.

Was wrestling in 2010 as bad as I remember?  2010 lost Shawn Michaels, Triple H Chris Jericho, Batista and The Undertaker as full time wrestlers and it was before CM Punk and Daniel Bryan became megastars.  John Cena spent the second half of the year involved in that insipid Nexus storyline.  And finally, TNA was trying redo 1994-96 WCW in the span of 9 months.  So am I right on the money about wrestling in 2010?

When you put it like that…..yeah it was pretty bad.

I felt squeamish watching the Becky/Charlotte title exchange last week. Not because of the shooting involved, but because exchanging titles seems so stupid. I thought the same exact thing with the Usos and New Day last year. Obviously the problem is the brand's name - although I don't think having the raw women's champion on smackdown is a huge issue. The audience would understand the nuance if necessary. I can think of many solutions otherwise, including match with multiple competitors from both brands in a 2 fall championship bout. Or simply change the women's title names to Universal and WWE like the men. Besides simply planning better, what's your thoughts?

I agree with you.  Swapping Title belts just makes them look like props, as Vince Russo used to say.  I disagree with treating Titles that way.

I guess we now know why Ric Flair left WWE before the showing of Dark Side of the Ring’s “Plane Ride from Hell.”

It was sad watching Flair wrestle and bleed in TNA when he was in his 60s.  Then after his health scare he seemed to turn a corner finally.  Now?  It seems like the Flair of TNA.  It's sad to watch him at this point.  If I were WWE I would have let him leave too.  I am a big believer in second chances.  I am not a big believer in tenth chances.

Are you a fan yet of the rankings system? I find it hampering to some degree in that you have to get creative when you sign talent that can be in the main event right away but come to the company in September but Tony Khan always finds a way around that when he wants to. On the other hand, I find it a great tool to elevate talent momentarily, like the Varsity Blondes, and also push talent that slumped one year and suddenly hit the win streak when the new year or season begins. They move the rankings and fans can see them as they do a sports team that had one bad year but took the time to improve. I think it allows them to refresh the roster and refresh the slate of title challengers each year. What do you think?

I don’t like win/loss records.  I have talked about that a lot in the past.  I just don’t think they add anything to a worked sport, and can do the opposite.  Rankings?  I don’t care either way to be honest.  They can be used as you mentioned, but a good booker can do the same thing with storylines and angles.
