HOW RAW CHANGED ACROSS THE DAY MONDAY

By Mike Johnson on 2021-12-09 12:22:00

This past Monday's episode of Raw ended with Liv Morgan challenging Becky Lynch, but that was not the original plan, PWInsider.com has confirmed.

Initially, the day of the show, that match was slated for the second hour with Raw closing on the steel cage match between WWE Champion Big E and Kevin Owens, as well as the angle involving Bobby Lashley.

There was a push during the day to instead go with Morgan vs. Lynch, which was approved especially when it was pointed out how the match fell on the same day as the anniversary of the Lita vs. Trish Stratus match that headlined Raw in December 2004.  While the third hour of Raw dropped considerably compared to hours one and two, there were a number of people in the company pointing to the strong success of Morgan vs. Lynch on the digital front, as its done over 700,000 views since Raw went off the air.

The Big E vs. Kevin Owens steel cage match that opened the Raw broacast replaced an initially planned talking segment that would have featured the competitors involved in the steel cage match setting the stage for that bout for later in the show.
