UPDATED: NEW JAPAN VS. PRO WRESTLING NOAH ANNOUNCED

By Mike Johnson on 2021-11-20 00:00:00

New Japan Pro Wrestling and Pro Wrestling NOAH are currently holding a joint press conference this evening to announce they would be working together for the 1/8/22 Wrestle Kingdom 16 event at the Yokohama Arena, the third and final Wrestle Kingdom Dome show next year.

The idea is that the Yokohama event will not be a traditional NJPW production, but instead be billed as New Japan vs. Pro Wrestling NOAH, airing live on PPV in both Japanese and English before being made available for VOD via New Japan World.  There is no word yet whether FITE.TV will carry the event.

No matches have yet been officially announced, but there will be interpromotional matches as well as stars from the two promotions teaming together. .  A graphic for the event features NJPW's Kazuchika Okada, Hiroshi Tanahashi and Shingo Takagi face to face with NOAH's Kaito Kiyomiya, Keiji Mutoh and Katsuhiko Nakajima.

The following English-subtitled video featuring NOAH and NJPW stars discussing the event has been released:
