11/14 NJPW REAL WORLD TAG LEAGUE REPORT FROM TOKYO, JAPAN

By James Kurokawa  on 2021-11-14 15:40:00

11-14-21 Results from New Japan’s World Tag League 2021 from Korakuen Hall, Tokyo Japan:

Yuto Nakashima vs. Kosei Fujita

Both men wrestle to a draw.

World Tag League 2021 Matches:

Zack Sabre Jr. and Taichi vs. Minoru Suzuki and TAKA Michinoku

As the Tekkers were coming to the ring, Suzuki and TAKA attacked.    ZSJ and Suzuki battled on the floor and exchanged submissions.  Taichi and TAKA hit each other with chairs and choked each other with wire.  Back in the ring, Tekkers took turns working over TAKA.  TAKA tagged Suzuki.   Suzuki and ZSJ squared off and the beat the crap out of each other.  Everyone was in the ring and Taichi trapped TAKA in a Stretch Plum and ZSJ caught Suzuki in an Octopus Lock.   TAKA made it to the ropes for a break.   Taichi hit TAKA with two thrust kicks and an Ax Bomber.  Two count.  Taichi plants TAKA with a Dangerous Backdrop.   But Taichi refuses to pin TAKA.  Suzuki screams at TAKA to get up and fight.   Taichi allows TAKA to get to his feet.  He hits Black Mephisto on TAKA.   Taichi stands over TAKA while the referee counts.  TAKA does not get up as the referee counts to 10.

Dangerous Tekkers get the win.

After the match, Taichi got in the face of TAKA and Suzuki about TAKA’s performance.  Suzuki yelled back at Taichi.   TAKA bowed to his opponents and everything was smoothed over in Suzuki-Gun.

TAKA looked in great shape and I am looking forward to how he and Suzuki will do.  He is still a bump machine so he will make his opponents look great.  I do not think Suzuki and TAKA will win WTL 2021, but they will provide some stories to tell.   I believe the story they told in this match was, “this is TAKA’s first match in a long time.  He has rust, so give him time to get in ring shape.”  Also, Suzuki-Gun got this conflict out of the way quickly, so now winning the tournament is the focus.

Satoshi Kojima and Hiroyoshi Tenzan vs. Tiger Mask and Yuji Nagata

Tiger Mask and Nagata worked well together.  The power of Kojima and Tenzan was too much.  Kojima blasted Tiger Mask with a lariat.

Kojima pinned Tiger Mask.

It is weird to see Tiger Mask teaming with Nagata, when he was just teaming with Robbie Eagles and Tiger is one half of the IWGP Jr. Tag Champions.  WTL 2021 is a Heavyweight tournament so Nagata and Tiger Mask may not perform as well.

Tomoaki Honma and Togi Makabe vs. Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa, with Jado

Tama Tonga pins Honma with a Gun Stun.

Despite their solo work in the G1 Climax 31, Guerrillas of Destiny look like they are on the top of their game.

Aaron Henare and Great O-Khan vs. Chase Owens and Bad Luck Fale

Owens looked happy to have Fale back in New Japan.   This was a power match between these two teams.

Fale pinned Henare after hit a Grenade Launcher.

Fun match.  Both teams bumped well for each other.  But you could see the joy on Owens’ face to be working with Fale again.

Toru Yano and Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Yujiro Takahashi and EVIL, with Dick Togo

Yano and Tanahashi came out dressed in one of Yano’s old gimmicks.  They were dressed in black coats and their was slicked back.

This was comedy match with lots of shenanigans.

Tanahashi and Yano hit a triple low blow on the House of Torture.

Yano rolled up Yujiro with a school boy pin.

Following the BOSJ 28, where House of Torture beats down the current Jr. Heavyweight champion, now they are outsmarted by Yano who beats them with a nut shot.  There was a camera shot of EVIL, Togo and Yujiro on the ring floor, all holding their privates.   I still don’t know what “House of Torture” is supposed to be.   Are they Suzuki-Gun or Dungeon of Doom?   Are they “strong-style” or a comedy act.  It is confusing. Fortunately for SHO aka “Murder Machine”, he was not a part of this.

YOSHI-HASHI and Hirooki Goto vs. SANADA and Tetsuya Naito

Tetsuya Naito returns after getting injured in his first match in the G1 Climax in September.

Both team looked good.  Naito in particular looked like he was a 100%.  He able to perform his lucha moves as normal.

Naito pins YOSHI-HASHI after hitting Destino.

Naito gets the mic and thanks the fans.  He recites the Los Ingobernales de Japon roll call to send everyone home happy.  He salutes Shingo Takagi who was on Japanese commentary for the evening.

Good match.  Both teams have a history and battled over the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championship earlier this year.   CHAOS was a good and safe team to face for Naito in his first time back.

As New Japan heads towards Wrestle Kingdom, they can be happy they have Tetsuya Naito back.
