FORMER WWE STAR APPEARS ON 'YOU BET YOUR LIFE'

By Mike Johnson on 2021-10-30 14:33:00

Former WWE star Joseph Ruud, who performed as Erick Rowan, appeared yesterday on syndicated comedy quiz show You Bet Your Life, hosted by Jay Leno.  During the appearance, Ruud noted he became a professional wrestler after quitting college in 2002 or 2003 to train before finally being signed by WWE.  It was mentioned that he wrestled The Rock at Wrestlemania in the shortest Mania match of all time, six seconds.  During his appearance Ruud and his partner won $5,500 answering trivia questions about the city of Pittsburgh, PA.

Ruud was not the only person connected to professional wrestling on a game show this week.  Mike "Mongoose" Coughlin, who in the past has refereed for Ring of Honor (where he was also, at one point, the Boston promoter) and Championship Wrestling from Hollywood (where he also worked as a producer) competed on te 10/28 edition of Wheel of Fortune.  Coughlin came in second on the show, winning $8,650.  One of the phrases to solve was "Vince McMahon" which Coughlin thankfully nailed quickly, as it would have been a massive embarassment for him to miss THAT one.  Coughlin, who works for Disney, is also a producer for new California independent promotion Raise the Bar Wrestling.
