10/21/21 - Worcester, MA
Streamed on IWTV.live
Beyond’s got your Thursday night fix as we kick off the 3rd episode of “Uncharted Territory”’s 3rd season! We have a huge clash on the books tonight between Matt Makowski and the returning Davey Richards. Also, we’re getting a rare defense of the Pan Afrikan World Diaspora Wrestling Champion! I’m live in Worcester. Rich Palladino is your announcer. Paul Crockett and Sidney Bakabella are your commentary team.
Pre-show Spotlight Match: Prize City Hooligans (Alec Price & Becca) vs MSP (Aiden Aggro & Danger Kid)
Price is all energy and wowed by his own wrestling prowess. Aggro sends him for a ride into his corner to show how outmatched he is. Aggro with a breakdance senton for a pin attempt. Kid into with a rolling dropkick that exits Price from the ring. Becca puts a halt on MSP’s double team to make sure price is okay…before they lawn dart her out to her partner. Aggro with a dive but Becca cuts off Kid and cannonballs off the apron at Aggro. PCH giving Kid the heat, keeping him stuck in enemy territory. Becca gives Alec a smooch before he tosses her into a senton on Kid. Good spot. Becca thrown in a spinning splash onto Kid for a two. Becca blasts Kid with a German as Aggro reaches to save his partner. Running bulldog off the corner and Kid kicks out again. Alec is frustrated and just raining clubbing blows down. He tries his back kick finish but Kid dodges and gets the tag shotgun dropkick to Becca! Alec eats a Yakuza kick! Becca spiked with a DDT for two! Becca eats a rock bottom onto Kid’s knees but Price cuts off the finish! MSP misses a cannonball/senton combo. Price hits the flying back kick to Kid and Becca makes like she’s gonna splash but jumps back to her feet and takes the pin on Danger Kid. Lot of fun, this.
Winners: Prize City Hooligans
Willow Nightingale is out for her match against Megan Bayne…but gets ambushed by the Prize City Hooligans, who have been hanging out by the merch table after their match. Becca holds Willow and Price superkicks her arm into the post. They stomp the hand on the floor before the ref throws them out. Willow is helped to the back. Is the match off??? Before Rich can say anything, Eel O’Neal storms to the ring with Jordan Blade to call out Trish Adora for his shot at her Pan Afrikan World Diaspora Wrestling Championship!
Match 1: “The Afropunk” Trish Adora(c) vs “The African American Horror Story” Eel O’Neal (w/ Jordan Blade) (for the Pan Afrikan World Diaspora Wrestling Championship)
Eel is still hot at Trish for her distraction causing their collective loss on Episode 1. The inaugural Pan Afrikan World Diaspora Wrestling champion is ready to settle differences tonight. A stare down and a handshake. Adora gets the wrist and won’t let up on it. Eel works through this grapple chess but Adora gets the arm and drags him down with a shoulder lock. Eel with a head kick escape, the champ adjusts her hair and the contest continues. Adora with the wrist lock, Eel reverse with a head scissor, Adora handsprings out into a headlock and gets the chicken wing locked. Eel keeps trying to spin and flip out but Adora keeps countering, frustrating her challenger. They break away from an Eel arm lock, Adora blocks a spine buster into a headlock but a shoulder block sends her to the mat. Eel works the ankle, grapvining the legs and arching her into the air. Eel with a back elbow and some smack talk fires up Adora to grab that wrist again and fire kicks and elbows into his chest. Eel wrestles her back up and falls back into a rear naked choke. Adora flips it into a pin. Kick out! Eel comes with a lariat but Adora hits a black hole slam! Big crossbody for two! Adora kicks out the arm of Eel. Headlock takedown sends him crashing into the ropes. Eel back up with a Blue Thunder Bomb into a reverse crab. Eel comes in but Adora hits the Lariat Tubman! Eel’s shoulder comes up! Adora rains shots into his back before applying the Cattle Mutilation to get the tap out! Good slow burn technical wrestling match here BUT I’m not sure such a respectful technical showcase made sense here with Eel’s beef with Adora. That said, good chess match.
Winner (and still champ): Trish Adora
Kings of the District give Adora a handshake of respect but Blade makes it clear that someone else is waiting in line for a shot at the Pan Afrikan World Diaspora Wrestling Championship. Yes PLEASE, I would like one unit of Jordan Blade vs Trish Adora in the future. Cool, thanks.
Match 2: The Amazing Graysons (Tommy & JP Grayson w/ Jared Silberkleit) vs Waves & Curls (Traevon Jordan & Jaelyn Brandyn)
OH NO NOT JARED SILBERKLEIT! Anyone familiar with my NEW Studio Wars coverage should be aware of my feelings towards this sentient pile of grease trap runoff and inheritance paperwork poured into an ill-fitting suit. So I guess this match is Trust Fund Approved. COOL. But Worcester LOVES them some Waves & Curls. W&C gets a good boo/yay between these teams. JP works the arm but gets caught in a dance spot…and then an atomic drop. Tommy in but they get booted to the outside. Jaelyn tries a dive but the Graysons cut him off and lay in a beatdown. Chokes in the corner as Jared cheers them on. He’s very energetic out there. Someone should land on him. Jaelyn trapped in the backslide and the Graysons use him for a team punching bag in this position. JP launches into the ring with an elbow drop for two. Jaelyn flips out of a back drop and tags Jordan. Big clotheslines clear JP. High angle back drop to Tommy. Facebuster to JP. He tries a chokeslam but JP cuts it off, side Russian leg sweep for two. Jaelyn stops the pin. Good energy here. Graysons trying to finish but Tommy DDT’d on the floor by Brandyn. JP holding his own. Suicide dive to Jared and Tommy and they’re wiped out. Huzzah! Waves & Curls hit the Wave Check which ends the night for JP as his Trust Fund teammates are motionless on the outside. This was a huge change in energy from the previous matchup, from the entrances to crowd interactions to the work in there. Waves & Curls might be the breakout stars of this edition of the Discovery but the Graysons (and YES, even Jared - who arguably had an even bigger hill to climb to set himself apart from other sleezeball managers) made a really good first impression on the Beyond crowd.
Winners: Waves & Curls
Waves & Curls with a fired up in-ring post match interview as Traevon eats a pie in the ring. They’re MOVIN’ ON UP! They want anyone and everyone, Waves & Curls will beat them all.
Match 3: “The Air Pod God” Richard Holliday vs “The Castaway” Cabana Man Dan
Holliday comes in arrogant and stomps CMD out. Big chops and forearms send the castaway to the mat. Northern lights suplex for two. Holliday can’t stop himself from jawing with the fans at ringside and Dan uses the opportunity to head scissor and arm drag out of danger. Holliday comes running into a dropkick to the knees. Holliday dodges out of Surf’s Up and drops CMD, following up with stomps and an elbow drop for a near fall. CMD with a back elbow and crossbody off the corner…backslide pin for two. Holliday misses a big boot but throws CMD over the ropes, hitting a backbreaker and spine buster for two. Holliday taunting CMD with calls of “Wilson!” CMD fires up with slaps, rebound headbutt to the chest and flying leg lariat for two. Code red! Kick out! Holliday dodges out of Surf’s Up against and hits 2008 on CMD for the pin. Something didn’t quite click between these two, this was a lot of Holliday taunting and being the overconfident powerhouse and CMD didn’t quite get a chance to show the level of fire I’ve seen from him over the last year or so.
Winner: Richard Holliday
Match 4: “Smart” Mark Sterling & VSK vs Teddy Goodz & Little Mean Kathleen
Sterling says that Goodz needs to win this match in order to regain his match with his client Matt Cardona in Somerville next month. Sterling tries to belittle LMK and offers her a chance to leave the match. LMK with a slap and the match is on. VSK spikes her immediately with a piledriver and Goodz is working a handicap match for the foreseeable future. VSK & Sterling working Goodz over. Slingshot senton for two. VSK chokes Goodz in the corner. Sterling in to pick the bones but Goodz sunset flips for a near fall. Goodz wipes out Sterling in the corner and crawls for a tag. LMK barely makes it up to the tag rope and Goodz gets to her. LMK with a body splash and runs her opponents into each other. Goodz tags back in after a breather and wipes out everyone. Suicide dive to Sterling! LMK put up in an electric chair and thrown off in a senton to Sterling. VSK tries another piledriver, Goodz with a rough ryder. Sterling hits a spine buster on LMK. Goodz cuts it off and throws LMK into a coderbreaker on Sterling for the pin! Kind of a car crash of tandem moves towards the end but it worked. I like the story they’re telling here though, with Goodz having to work towards his big match with Cardona. Putting in the VERY over Little Mean Kathleen kept the crowd hype through this.
Winners: Teddy Goodz & Little Mean Kathleen
MatCh 5: Club Cam (Aaron Rourke, Bryce Donovan & Bobby Orlando w/ Cam Zagami) vs The High Flying Star Machines (Bojack, BK Westbrook & Diego Hill)
Westbrook and Rourke with some high energy graps, trading flips and dropkicks. Orlando tags into but gets thrown into Diego. Big Diego dropkick and a top rope elbow from BK. Bojack with a delay walk around bodyslam to Orlando. Bojack pushes a Diego flip into a corkscrew senton. Diego with a outside dive fakeout that enrages Club Cam. They need a huddle by the VIP rope. Bryce tries to get a club cam chant going but Worcester adds a “sucks” to it. Orlando with a fake out and drops BK on his back. The club comes together with an Irish whip double knees and a split leg moonsault for a near fall. BK with a flip neckbreaker to Rourke gets the tag to Diego. Diego kicks out Rourke’s legs and hits a spin kick to the head that Bryce has to break the pin. Diego with a standing Spanish fly! Kick out! He tries a slingshot but Orlando distracts…Rourke spears Diego out of the air. Shook Crew with a straight jacket slam onto the buckles for two. Orlando runs his mouth and eats a spin kick. Diego run into a pair of head kicks and a backstabber for two. Dropkick/German combo for two. Diego catches a double DDT and gets the tag to Bojack, who offers corner splashes and clotheslines for erryone. Double Clothesline and Bobby destroys with a pounce. Huge Falcon Arrow to Orlando but he’s saved. Bojack throw to the outside but he catches a dive from Orlando. BK with a suicide out there. Diego with a senton over the corner and the crowd blows up for that. BK Slingshot elbow to Orlando! Bobby’s out! Cam interferes but Bojack drags him in for superkicks and a high knee. Cam dumped out while Rourke and Bryce post Bojack. Bryce with a chokeslam to BK on the apron. Orlando catches Diego with a flip DVD. Suplex elbow drop combo from Shook Crew and a 450 to Hill from Rourke seals the win for Club Cam. Cam did a great job as coach tonight, keeping the newcomers from getting too much on a roll. Good back and forth had me guessing if the club might take the L here.
Winners: Club Cam
Match 6: “Megasus” Megan Bayne vs Willow Nightingale
Willow is sporting some tape on the wrist and hand that Alex Price & Becca injured at the top of the show. Clash of power early, as Willow shows she’s Bayne equal there. Willow with a headlock and Bayne is annoyed, slamming Willow down for the infraction. Willow eating suplexes and starting to favor that hand. Bayne dodged in the corner and Willows throwing big elbows. Bayne catches her running with a Samoan drop. Bayne working the traps. Big senton and Willow kicks out. Nightingale fights out of a chin lock, but Bayne drops her on her head. Bayne cant get the three. Willow cartwheels out of danger but wincing on that hand. She tries a chop but hurts herself more. Trap lariat and both are down. Willow firing up! Spine buster for two! Bayne muscles up Willow and hits a power slam. Kick out! Willow fights out of the uranage and stuns Bayne with a back elbow. Shotgun dropkick off the second for two! Corner cannonball! Kick out! Willow trying for a moonsault but Bayne intercepts. Willow fights out of a tombstone, tries to reverse it but can’t make the lift. Bayne breaks free, stuns her and catches her again in that tombstone position, driving Willow’s head into the mat for the pin. Liked the story here a lot, as it gives Willow an out for the loss (we CAN’T kill Bayne’s run yet) but also a reason to run it back when she’s 100%….which they should.
Winner: Megan Bayne
Main Event: “The American Wolf” Davey Richards vs “Weapon X” Matt Makowski
Richards works Makowski down into a straight jacket choke early. Makowski gets back up and reverses the hold. Richards picks the ankle, Makowski gets his own hold and they torture each other in the lock. Makowski powers it up and over into a sharpshooter. Makowski works into a kimura, Richards works out and sends Matt to the ropes. Richards catches Makowski running with a knee to the gut. He lands another, wraps a body scissor and transitions to an abdominal stretch. Pinning predicament! Kick out! They manage to get ahold of each other’s ankles again. Richards turns it into a cloverleaf surfboard stretch into a Lion tamer. Makowski gets the ropes and they get to trading punches. Richards with a spin kick to the gut but dodged in the corner and Weapon X hits the showtime kick. Kick out! Makowski slingshots into the ring and gets a read naked choke. Richards is out and throwing shoulder into Makowski’s gut on the apron. Richards to the top…AWOOOOOOO…Makowski dodges the double stomp but Richards drags him down into a modified trailer hitch. The crowd demands Makowski tap but he grabs the canvas and drags himself to the rope. Richards is favoring his shoulder but tries a suplex…Makowski with a knee to the face and Richards is stunned on the rope. Both men remove their hand and wrist tape to trace punches and kicks in the center. Fast kick trades, Makowski with a head kick, Richards with a vertical suplex! Crowd wills both warriors to their feet as they throw more staggering punches. They fire up their intensity in trading, Richards with a flurry of shots but Makowski jumps up and brings Richard down into an armbar. Richards reverses it into an ankle lock. Richards with a PK! Top rope double stomp! Kick out at 2.9! Richards with the ankle lock again. Makowski throws him out of it, hits a running knee to the chin, rolls into the armbar and Richards is forced to tap! It was a little weird to have another methodical technical chess match to close the show (as the crowd tends to go quiet and respectful for those sequences) BUT they worked it great as a main event, firing up into aggressive combat and the crowd came with them, eating up the second half of this contest. Great to see Richards back in Beyond!
Winner: Matt Makowski
Makowski puts over Richards on the mic but says he wasn’t about to be a victim at the expense of Richards’ return. Next week, he takes on Ryan Galeone. That should be crazy…but the match he wants is coming…Matt Makowski vs Wheeler Yuta. Maybe it’s not for the IWTV championship anymore but Makowski has a score to settle.
Besides the Ryan Galeone return, Rich Palladino announces Alex Reynolds vs Goodz. I’ve got my booing lungs ready for Reynolds. Wheeler Yuta vs Masha Slamovich. Aaron Rourke vs Jon Silver!!! The Meat Man chant for that announcement was awesome. Next week’s gonna be fun! Until then!
