DRAGON GATE KOBE PRO-WRESTLING FESTIVAL CONTINUES, NOAH IN HIROSHIMA AND MORE FROM JAPAN

Dragon Gate held the second night of its two-day Kobe Pro-Wrestling Festival event today in Kobe World Kinen Hall.

The full results were:

• Dia Inferno, Kaito Ishida and SB KENTo def. Keisuke Okuda, Kota Minoura and Kzy

Kagetora defeated Genki Horiguchi to win the Open the Brave Gate Championship. SB KENTo challenged Kagetora for the title backstage.

Dragon Dia, Jason Lee and La Estrella made their second successful defense of the Open the Triangle Gate Championships against “brother” YASSHI, Shuji Kondo and Toru Owashi.

King Shimizu and Susumu Yokosuka made their first successful defense of the Open the Twin Gate Championships against Ben-K and Dragon Kid.

YAMATO defeated Shun Skywalker to win the Open the Dream Gate Championship.

Masato Yoshino wrestled the final match of his illustrious career in the main event, teaming with Naruki Doi for the last time in defeat against BxB Hulk and Eita.

Pro Wrestling NOAH held a show today in Hiroshima.

Seiki Yoshioka and Yuya Susumu defeated Daisuke Harada and Hajime Ohara to win the GHC Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championships.

HAYATA made his second successful defense of the GHC Junior Heavyweight Championship against YO-HEY.

Naomichi Marufuji made his first successful defense of the GHC Heavyweight Championship against Kazushi Sakuraba in the main event.

Marufuji’s third defense of the title will be against the winner of the N-1 Victory tournament at NOAH’s show on October 10 in EDION Arena Osaka. Marufuji also announced he will not compete in the tournament.

Before then, however, he will bring back his mythical alter ego to team with Great Muta against HAYATA and Yoshinari Ogawa at NOAH’s show on August 15 in Kawasaki.

Luchador El Hijo del Espectro Jr. will soon travel to Japan to compete for NOAH, he announced at Lucha Time’s show last night.

New Japan Pro Wrestling

New Japan Pro Wrestling held its eighth Summer Struggle tour show today in Korakuen Hall.

The full results were:

• Kazuchika Okada def. Yuya Uemura
• Tetsuya Naito def. Yota Tsuji
• Chase Owens, El Phantasmo and Taiji Ishimori def. SHO, Toru Yano and YOH
• BUSHI, SANADA and Shingo Takagi def. Dick Togo, EVIL and Yujiro Takahashi
• NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Championships: Hirooki Goto, Tomohiro Ishii and YOSHI-HASHI (c) def. Minoru Suzuki, Taichi and Zack Sabre Jr.

Hirooki Goto, Tomohiro Ishii and YOSHI-HASHI made their eighth successful defense of the NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Championships against Minoru Suzuki, Taichi and Zack Sabre Jr. in the main event.

After the match, BUSHI, SANADA and Tetsuya Naito challenged the champions.

Pro Wrestling ZERO1

Pro Wrestling ZERO1 held its Fire Festival final show today in Korakuen Hall.

During the show, it was announced ZERO1 will hold its Tenka-Ichi Junior tournament in August and September.

The full tournament schedule is:

• August 24 in Yamanashi
• August 25 in Utsunomiya
• August 26 in Utsunomiya
• August 27 in Utsunomiya
• August 29 in Ito
• September 4 in Nagoya
• September 9 in Shin-Kiba 1st Ring

Ricky Fuji and Shoki Kitamura, who won last year’s tournament, announced their participation in the tournament.

Last year’s tournament took place with 10 competitors competing under single-elimination rules.

Takafumi, who was scheduled to team with Chris Vice and Shogun Okamoto against Ayato Yoshida, Hartley Jackson and Tsugutaka Sato, missed the show due to poor physical condition. He tested negative for COVID-19.

The bout was changed to a five-way with the remaining competitors, which Yoshida won.

In the main event, Takuya Sugawara defeated Shinjiro Otani to win the Fire Festival tournament.

Sugawara said he wants to defeat Masato Tanaka to win the World Heavyweight Championship and asked Tanaka to successfully defend the title against Takashi Sugiura (a title-versus-title match with Sugiura’s GHC National Championship also on the line will take place on August 15).

Eric Ryan called out Pro Wrestling FREEDOMS’ star Masashi Takeda after winning IWA Mid-South’s King Of The Death Matches tournament last night.
