New Japan Pro Wrestling
New Japan Pro Wrestling has announced Kota Ibushi will miss its Strummer Struggle tour show on July 19 in Ryugasaki City General Gymnasium.
Yuji Nagata will take Ibushi’s place in the main event of the show teaming with Hiroyoshi Tenzan, Master Wato and Satoshi Kojima against BUSHI, SANADA, Shingo Takagi and Tetsuya Naito.
Ibushi will miss the show due to illness, although he has tested negative for COVID-19. It will mark the third show Ibushi has missed since Bushiroad founder Takaaki Kidani confirmed all company employees, including New Japan wrestlers, received their first COVID-19 vaccine on July 8.
Ibushi also missed New Japan’s two-night Summer Struggle in Sapporo event on July 10 and 11. He is scheduled to compete on New Japan’s upcoming shows on July 22, 23, 24 and 25 – the latter of which being Wrestle Grand Slam in the Tokyo Dome where he will challenge Takagi for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.
