Here is this week's update.
*****
As some of you know, I live in Las Vegas, NV. Being local, I have been tracking the cases of COVID-19 in the city and also the State of Nevada since the pandemic started. I post updates for friends on a Facebook group I started so people know what's going on in our area.
Since the mask mandate and the social distancing protocols were lifted about a month ago, cases of COVID have spiked, with the vast majority of cases being among unvaccinated people. Hospitals in the area are nearing capacity and at the ER closest to my home last weekend, patients were being refused admittance due to no space. And, it's a very big hospital.
All of the numbers were rising over the last month. Last weekend, big events returned to the city. In addition to the usual Strip shows returning, UFC had a sold out event at T-Mobile Arena and Garth Brooks did the same at Allegiant Stadium, home of SummerSlam. Suffice to say, there weren't many people following any of the protocols at any of the events.
To give you an idea as to how things are in Clark County (home of Las Vegas), here are the numbers compare in just one month's time.
June 13 | July 14 | July 21 | July 28 | August 4 | |
Daily Cases | 98 | 888 | 827 | 1160 | 936 |
Five Day Average Daily Cases | 174 | 644 | 727 | 883 | 774 |
Daily Hospitalizations | 4 | 45 | 30 | 47 | 62 |
State 2 Week Positivity Rate | 3.4% | 10.9% | 12.7% | 14.4% | 15.7% |
Clark Co. 1 Week Positivity Rate | 4.6% | 15.5% | 15.5% | 18.7% | 17.1% |
As you can see, the numbers are on the rise. With the PPV about five weeks away, I wanted anyone coming to town to know what is going on.
