New Japan Pro Wrestling
New Japan Pro Wrestling’s SHO will face Takanori Ito in a UWF Rules match at GLEAT’s show on July 1 in Tokyo Dome City Hall.
SHO has an athletic background in mixed martial arts and jiu-jitsu. Prior to wrestling, he was the vice-captain of Tokuyama University’s wrestling team.
The news comes as quite a shock given how rare it is to see wrestlers contracted to New Japan wrestle in other Japanese promotions. Perhaps the most recent example would be when Manabu Nakanishi made a one-off appearance in All Japan Pro Wrestling last February before his retirement.
Great-O-Khan expressed interest in competing in a UWF Rules match on Twitter.
It remains to be seen if SHO appearing in GLEAT is also a one-off or if the two companies will regularly exchange talent moving forward.
New Japan has announced the full cards for its remaining Kizuna Road tour shows on June 26 in Sendai Sunplaza Hall, June 28 in Nagoya Congress Center Event Hall, June 29 in Takaoka Techno Dome and July 1 and 2 in Korakuen Hall. The full cards are:

Takuya Nomura challenged Daichi Hashimoto to a singles match.
Ryuji Ito and Drew Parker will face off in the Ikkitousen Deathmatch Survivor final on June 28 in Korakuen Hall. The winner of the tournament will then challenge Takumi Tsukamoto for the BJW Deathmatch Heavyweight Championship on July 23 in Korakuen Hall.
