KUSHIDA REVEALS HE NEARLY RETIRED, DDT DAMNATION UPDATE AND MORE FROM JAPAN

New Japan Pro Wrestling held its seventh Kizuna Road tour show today in Korakuen Hall.

The full results were:

• Great-O-Khan def. Yota Tsuji
• Kota Ibushi def. Yuya Uemura
• Hirooki Goto, Kazuchika Okada, Tomohiro Ishii, Toru Yano and YOSHI-HASHI def. Hiroyoshi Tenzan, Satoshi Kojima,
• El Desperado, Taichi, Yoshinobu Kanemaru and Zack Sabre Jr. def. BUSHI, SANADA, Shingo Takagi and Tetsuya Naito
• IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championships: El Phantasmo and Taiji Ishimori def. SHO and YOH (c)

Hirooki Goto, Kazuchika Okada, Tomohiro Ishii, Toru Yano and YOSHI-HASHI were originally scheduled to face Dick Togo, EVIL, Gedo, Jado and Yujiro Takahashi, but the card was changed after Hiroyoshi Tenzan, Satoshi Kojima and Yuji Nagata challenged Goto, Ishii and YOSHI-HASHI for the NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Championships yesterday.

El Phantasmo and Taiji Ishimori defeated SHO and YOH in the main event to win the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championships for the third time.

New Japan has uploaded the sixty-first edition of Hiroshi Tanahashi’s Ace’s HIGH autobiographical interview series.

Topics discussed include facing AJ Styles in 2008, being influenced by Rick Martel and becoming the first wrestler contracted to New Japan to wrestle in All Japan Pro Wrestling’s Champion Carnival.

Elsewhere, former New Japan star KUSHIDA has revealed on Twitter he came close to retirement in 2017 due to abdominal pain.

• Akira Hyodo, Daichi Hashimoto and Kankuro Hoshino vs. Fuminori Abe, Kosuke Sato and Takuya Nomura

• Ikkitousen Deathmatch Survivor semi-final: Hideyoshi Kamitani vs. Ryuji Ito

The winners of Hideyoshi Kamitani versus Ryuji Ito and Drew Parker versus Violento Jack will face off in the Ikkitousen Deathmatch Survivor final on June 28 in Korakuen Hall. The winner of the tournament will then challenge Takumi Tsukamoto for the BJW Deathmatch Heavyweight Championship on July 23 in Korakuen Hall.

Big Japan has cancelled Fuminori Abe and Takuya Nomura’s second defense of the BJW Tag Team Championships against Daisuke Sekimoto and a mystery partner at its show on July 4 in Colega Studios. Sekimoto is recovering from a right knee wound infection.

The updated July 4 card is:

• Kazumasa Yoshida vs. Yuichi Taniguchi
• Kazuki Hashimoto and Kota Sekifuda vs. Quiet Storm and Takuho Kato

DDT Pro-Wrestling

DDT Pro-Wrestling has announced two new matches for DAMNATION’s show on July 26 in Shinjuku FACE.

First, Keizo Matsuda, Kengo Mashimo and Masashi Takeda will face Mad Paulie, Shuji Ishikawa and Yuji Hino in a six-man tag team match. Second, Keo Isaka will face Tetsuya Endo.
