6/22 NEW JAPAN RESULTS FROM TOKYO

By James Kurokawa on 2021-06-23 08:01:00

From Korakuen Hall, Tokyo Japan:

1 - Yuya Uemura vs. Taichi

Uemura started the match very aggressive.  The match went to the floor and Uemura whipped Taichi into the guardrails twice.   Uemura hit a body press off the ring apron onto Taichi on the floor.   Taichi was slow to get back in the ring.  Uemura hit him with kicks and forearms, almost in a mocking way, very similar to what Suzuki-Gun does to their opponents.   Uemura caught Taichi in the corner and hammered him with elbows.   Uemura whipped Taichi across the ring into the turnbuckle.   Uemura charged with a rushing attack.  Taichi dodged the charge and hit Uemura in the face with a LOUD high kick.  Uemura looked dazed.   Taichi paintbrushed Uemura in the face with his boot, and threw wicked thrust kicks to the chest of Uemura.  Taichi wrapped Uemura in a Cobra Twist, wrenching his neck in the process.   Uemura gets a break in the ropes.

Uemura fights back with elbows and a dropkick.   Uemura goes for a suplex.  Taichi reverses and goes for a Dangerous Backdrop, but Uemura hits a Backdrop of his own.  Uemura goes for a Boston Crab.  Taichi gets a break in the ropes.  Uemura ducks a Ax Bomber and hits a double underhook suplex.  Only a two count.  Uemura goes to the top rope and misses a flying body press.  Taichi turns him inside out with an Ax Bomber.   Two count only.   Taichi goes for a Last Ride but reverses out and rolls up Taichi for a two count.  Taichi hits another wicked high kick into the nose which flips Uemura onto his head.

Taichi hits the Last Ride and gets the pin.

2 - Yota Tsuji vs. Zack Sabre Jr.

Lots of grappling to start this match.  Both men attempted leg submissions.  Great technical wrestling from each man with lots of reversals.  ZSJ looked to be frustrated and they started throwing hard strikes. ZSJ caught Tsuji with a neck twist and attacked his neck with submissions.  Tsuji countered with his power and trapped ZSJ in a Camel Clutch.   Both men moved with such speed that it was difficult to keep up.   Tsuji caught ZSJ in Gory Special submission.  ZSJ was screaming while he was being stretched.  ZSJ was able to get his arms free and position himself on the shoulders of Tsuji and used his legs like a vice around the neck of Tsuji.   Tsuji slowly slumped to the mat while ZSJ locked Tsuji in a Triangle choke.   The referee stops the match.

Zack Sabre Jr. gets the win.

Both matches with Uemura and Tsuji were good.  Even if they lost, they told good stories in the ring with their opponents.

3 -  El Phantasmo, Taiji Ishimori, Jado and Gedo vs. Toru Yano, Kazuchika Okada, SHO and YOH

CHAOS attacked Bullet Club at the bell and Okada locked Gedo in the Money Clip.   Everyone else battled on the floor.   Gedo was about to tap out until Ishimori made the save.  Lots of comedy spots in the match.

SHO and YOH hit 3K on Gedo.   YOH pins Gedo.

Tomorrow night in Korakuen Hall, SHO and YOH will defend their IWGP Jr. Tag Team Titles against Taiji Ishimori and El Phantasmo.   Roppongi 3K has momentum going into tomorrow's title match.

4 - Hiroyoshi Tenzan, Satoshi Kojima, Yuji Nagata and Kota Ibushi vs. BUSHI, SANADA, Tetsuya Naito and Shingo Takagi

Kojima pins BUSHI with a lariat.

The match was fine, but it was a teaser for Takagi vs. Ibushi at the Tokyo Dome.  Ibushi showed respect to his partners by encouraging the crowd to clap for them as they returned to the locker room.

5 - IWGP NEVER Openweight 6-man Tag Team Championship:   Tomohiro Ishii, YOSHI-HASHI, and Hirooki Goto vs. Yujiro Takahashi, Dick Togo and EVIL

Pieter is back!   She accompanies Yujiro Takahashi to the ring.   The Japanese Announcers sound like they are so excited.

Bullet Club attacks at the bell and everyone battles on the floor.   Togo and EVIL focus on Ishii and throw him into the guardrail.   Togo was impressive in the match and held his own against the younger wrestlers.  Pace of the match picked up and action was everywhere.   The camera could not pick up everything.   YOSHI-HASHI trapped EVIL in a Butterfly Lock.   Togo hit YOSHI-HASHI from behind to break it up.  Togo grabbed his choke wire to go after YOSHI-HASHI, but Ishii knocked him off the apron and to the floor.   EVIL hits Darkness Falls on YOSHI-HASHI.   Two count.   EVIL goes for Everything is Evil but YOSHI-HASHI reverses and tries for Kharma.  But EVIL reverses out.   YOSHI-HASHI hits a Backstabber on EVIL.  They both tag out and Ishii and Togo resume their fight.   Togo locks Ishii in a crossface.   Ishii makes it to the ropes.  Ishii fights back and puts Togo on the top rope.  Ishii takes Togo up into a Superplex.  Ouch!   Ishii and Togo reverse out each other's moves and Ishii plants Togo with a back suplex.  Ishii goes for a sliding lariat.  Togo grabs Ishii's arm and gets a crucifix pin attempt.   Ishii kicks out at two, but Togo reverses into another crossface.

Great stuff by Ishii and Togo.   Wow!

YOSHI-HASHI comes in to make the save.  Takahashi comes in to fight him.  EVIL and Goto come in as well.   EVIL brings a chair.   Takahashi hits YOSHI-HASHI with his Pimp Stick.  He also hits Ishii with the Pimp Stick.   EVIL beats down Ishii with the chair.   I do not see Red Shoes the anywhere.   Togo piledrives Ishii on a chair.   Red Shoes rolls into the ring.   Togo covers Ishii.  Ishii kicks out at two.    EVIL picks up Ishii and he and Togo drop Ishii with a Magic Killer.   Togo covers Ishii.   Ishii kicks out at two.   Togo hits a Pedigree on Ishii and goes to the top rope.  Goto comes in and knocks Togo to the mat.  Takahashi comes in eats a GTR.   EVIL comes in to hit a lariat on Goto.    YOSHI-HASHI hits a lariat on EVIL.  Bodies are everywhere in the ring.

Ishii and Togo face off again.  Ishii takes down Togo with a lariat.   Ishii hits a powerbomb on Togo.   Takahashi breaks up the pin.  Goto and YOSHI-HASHI toss Takahashi from the ring.  Goto and YOSHI-HASHI hit Togo with GTW.   Ishii hits Togo with a sliding lariat.   Ishii goes for the pin.   Togo kicks out at two.   Ishii punches the mat in frustration.   Ishii goes for a brainbuster, but Togo escapes.  Togo pushes Ishii towards the referee and tries for a low blow.  Ishii blocks it.  Togo punch Ishii and EVIL comes from behind and goes for Everything is Evil.   Ishii escapes and grabs EVIL arounds the waist.   EVIL sees YOSHI-HASHI setting up for a Super Kick.  EVIL dodges and Ishii takes a YOSHI-HASHI Super Kick in the face.   Togo rolls up Ishii for the pin, while EVIL tackles YOSHI-HASHI.   Ishii kicks out at two.

Takahashi tries to hit Ishii with Pimp Juice, but Goto stops him and Goto locks him in a Sleeper hold.   YOSHI-HASHI also locks EVIL in a Sleeper hold.  EVIL and Takahashi hit their opponents with low blows to break the holds.

EVIL has the referee occupied while Togo gets his choke wire.   Togo goes after Ishii who has had enough.   He hits lariats on all Bullet Club members.  He picks up Togo and nails a brainbuster.

Ishii pins Togo.

Tomohiro Ishii, Hirooki Goto and YOSHI-HASHI successfully retain their IWGP NEVER Openweight 6-man Titles.

Wow, this match surprised me.   I did not expect Dick Togo to perform so well.   My hat is off to him for this great match.

EVIL and Ishii have a stare down after the match, but Bullet Club leaves the ring to fight another day.

Yuji Nagata, Satoshi Kojima and Hiroyoshi Tenzan came to the ring.   Looks like they are declaring themselves the next challengers.   Nagata takes the mic and makes the challenge.   Ishii gets in the face of Nagata, and Nagata blasts him with an elbow.   They leave ringside.

YOSHI-HASHI takes the mic, thanks the crowd to send them home happy.

Kizuna Road 2021 continues tomorrow.
