GO FUND ME CAMPAIGN LAUNCHED TO ASSIST DON WEST IN CANCER BATTLE

By Mike Johnson on 2021-06-22 08:21:00

A GoFundMe Campaign was officially launched to assist former Impact Wrestling announcer Don West in his battle after he was diagnosed with brain lymphoma, a form of cancer.  The campaign was launched by his sister-in-law.

West was an extremely important part of TNA/Impact Wrestling during his time with the company from 2002 through 201.  He announced on 6/15 announced today that he has been diagnosed and will undergo immediate treatment.

West was beloved as an announcer, manager and heading up the company's merchandise side from 2002 through 2012, when he made the decision to exit the company to take a position as the General Manager of the Wenatchee Wild hockey team in Wenatchee, Washington.  West, who has popped up occasionally in pro wrestling at Starrcast events, had been doing radio on KPQ 560 in Washington in recent years.  West will be taking a hiatus from his broadcasting duties to focus on his health.

Don first became known nationally as a pitchman for Shop at Home, where he became so popular Will Ferrell once played him in a sketch on NBC's Saturday Night Live.

West's letter to his listeners on the KPQ website:

“Hello everybody,

Don West here to tell you about how disappointed I am not to be talking about the Seattle Seahawks, the Mariners, the Wenatchee Wild and everything else that we love to talk about every day on the Don West Show.

Many of you have wondered where I have been and why the show is on hiatus.  So I want to share this news directly with you.  I have been diagnosed with a brain lymphoma and will begin immediate treatment.

I want to thank my wife Terri for her love and support, my family and everyone that works at Cherry Creek Media and KPQ.  I also want to thank the Don West Show’s incredible sponsors and my friends for all the prayers that are coming my way. I am praying the chemotherapy will help me heal faster and hopefully I’ll be back on the radio soon.

I can’t wait until this is all over and I can be back with you all again, I love you all!

Don West”
