Yesterday, our own Oliver Taylor reported that All Japan Pro Wrestling Triple Crown Champion Suwama missed yesterday's today in Toyama due to illness.
Today, All Japan announced that Suwama tested positive for COVID-19 and that the Championship has been declared vacant. Suwama's initial COVID-19 test was negative but a follow-up PCR test came back with a positive result.
Suwama was slated to make his eighth defense of the Triple Crown Championship against AJPW's 2021 Champion Carnival winner Jake Lee at the promotion's 1/26 event at Ota Ward Gymnasium.
There is no word yet as to how AJPW plans to fill the vacancy. Suwama was in the midst of his seventh reign as Triple Crown Champion.
