EXCLUSIVE, UPDATED: BIG NAME AT WWE PERFORMANCE CENTER IN ADVANCE OF RETURN

By Mike Johnson on 2021-06-18 19:00:00

Former WWE Raw and Smackdown Women's Champion Becky Lynch was at the WWE Performance Center earlier this week, PWInsider.com has confirmed.  The visit was described to us as part of the process for Lynch to return to action for the company after celebrating the birth of her and Seth Rollins' daughter, Roux, in December 2020.

Update: We are told Lynch was in the ring working out with Indi Hartwell yesterday.

With Summerslam coming up, as we've mentioned, it's being considered an "all hands on deck" show and certainly Lynch's return would be a great attraction for the show on a year where it may be considered even bigger than Wrestlemania due to the timing of the country opening up as we get to what is hopefully the latter end of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Irish star was last seen on WWE programming in May 2020 on Monday Night Raw, when she vacated the Raw Women's title and announced she would be stepping away from WWE as she and Seth Rollins were expecting their first child.  That night, Lynch, coming out with the Money in the Bank Briefcase that Asuka had won the previous night at the 2020 WWE Money in the Bank PPV, stated that she was torn between joy and sadness and in a place in her life where things are going to change.  She explained that when he walked into the United States and into the doors of WWE, she didn't know if she would was good enough to be here.  She didn't know if anyone would care about her but they did care and they carried her into history.

Lynch stated that the fans carried her through injury and triumph and it was the fans who deserved to hear an announcement from her.  Lynch then announced that she had to "go away" for awhile.  Asuka came out upset, saying she had rightfully won the briefcase and it is her case.  Lynch said that Asuka has every right to be upset, but the match last night wasn't for the briefcase but actually for the Raw Women's Championship.  She told Asuka that she can't fight anymore, so Asuka was the champion.  Asuka celebrated her win as Lynch laughed and teared up.  Lynch then told Asuka to go be a warrior because Lynch was going to go be a mother.

Lynch then walked off, tearing up, to the stage, where she looked around at the WWE Performance Center.  She looked in the camera and said, "I'm going to miss you guys."

While Lynch certainly missed the fans, as they did her, the countdown clock is on the for the return of "The Man."
