WWE IN NYC UPDATE, EARLY SURVIVOR SERIES LOCATION PLANS, ALEISTER BLACK, NXT AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2021-06-17 16:44:00

The early word on the Survivor Series location is the plan is to hold it at The Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY for this November.  This was first reported by The Mat Men Podcast and we can confirm with sources at the venue that they and WWE are trying to lock in a date for that PPV currently.  That month would be  25th anniversary of The Rock's debut at the 1996 Survivor Series in Madison Square Garden.

Speaking of MSG, we have also confirmed with sources at Madison Square Garden that WWE has multiple holds for potential dates over the next year but nothing has been set in stone.  I would assume one of those dates is the annual 12/26 event.

There continues to be a lot of talk internally, all the way up to top WWE executives that the release of Aleister Black was a premature decision.  There's been talk in recent weeks about AEW interest in him, which has sparked some additional discussion inside WWE.  Whether they pull the trigger on this (similar to Triple H doing so with Samoa Joe) or not remains to be seen but there continues to be second-guessing about cutting him after spending time on rebooting his character.

No update yet on the location for the WWE NXT Takeover tentatively set for 8/22.

New WWE NXT creative team addition George Carroll was said to have involved in producing the opening segment of NXT this week, which was excellent.
