Lio Rush tweeted the following:
I’m retiring from Pro Wrestling ????????. It’s been a crazy ride, but it’s time to get off and do what truly makes me happy. Thank you @AEW @AEWonTNT @njpwglobal for everything. Full story - https://t.co/SkpCOhT7Bt pic.twitter.com/17jvjMeXSI

In his Instagram post, Rush stated that he suffered a separated AC joint in his shoulder at AEW's Double or Nothing. He stated that AEW still wanted to sign him, which would have made him the first talent signed to two major companies at the same time as he had already signed with New Japan in April. The injury made him re-evaluate where he is in life, especially as it was keeping him from holding his youngest child. He stated that led him to decide he was done, with the exception of whatever contracted matches he has left for New Japan Pro Wrestling.
