ANOTHER SHOCKING BEHIND THE SCENES WWE RELEASE

By Mike Johnson on 2021-05-29 10:05:00

Earlier this week when WWE vastly cut through their WWE Network, WWE Studios and digital department staffs, one of the most stunning departures was Giancarlo Dittamo, who was hired in November 2018 and had directed a number of great WWE documentary pieces released over the last several years, including the Liv Forever Liv Morgan WWE Network documentary and the WWE YouTube profile of "Ringside" Charlie Adorno.

Over the last 18 months, among the projects Dittamo had been working on included the forthcoming Superfan: The Story of Vladimir documentary, which received a massive amount of buzz for the company when it was announced over Wrestlemania 37 weekend.  Dittamo directed that film (which we are told is completed) and was intimately involved with Vladimir being named the company's first-ever official Superfan.

One WWE staffer who survived the cuts this week described Dittamo as a "genius" and felt extremely bad that he wouldn't be part of the company when the Vladimir documentary, which is said to be excellent, debuts officially later this summer.

Prior to his WWE hire, Dittamo had worked for several promotions in a production capacity and was one of the best kept secrets of professional wrestling's production side.  In the past, he held major positions with Game Changer Wrestling, Joey Janela's Spring Break, CWH and other promotions, and handled lots of other film, TV and digital media work outside of professional wrestling.

Earlier this week, Dittamo apparently commented on his WWE exit, tweeting:

There were "dozens upon dozens" of WWE cuts this past Tuesday, according to a source.
