When WWE announced their plans to return to the road yesterday, it was and wasn't a surprise to their talents.  While talents were not given the heads up on the announcement or dates, it had been informally passed along in recent weeks that plans to return to the road would be forthcoming in the near future. 

We are told that the company kept plans extremely close to the vest until they were announced via a press release in order to prevent leaks but also because things could have changed at any moment due to the pandemic.   It is expected that many, if not all of the events, will take place in markets where COVID-19 safety rules have started to become more relaxed.  The Southwest and Florida seem most likely for future events, but we've heard Iowa and Pennsylvania have been bandied about as well.  

It remains to be seen if those who worked exclusively on live events who were furloughed or let go will return in any capacity.  One would think that until the company is back running events at a major touring level, they will remain conservative in how they proceed.  

Tickets for the first WWE return events in July in Texas will go on sale this Wednesday.

WWE issued the following in support of their return to the road:


STAMFORD, Conn., May 21, 2021 – WWE (NYSE: WWE) will return to live event touring with a 25-city schedule through Labor Day. The tour will debut this July in Texas with a trio of shows:

  • Friday, July 16: SmackDown – Toyota Center in Houston
  • Sunday, July 18: Money In The Bank – Dickies Arena in Fort Worth
  • Monday, July 19: Raw – American Airlines Center in Dallas

Tickets for the live events in HoustonFort Worth and Dallas go on sale this Wednesday, May 26 at 11 am ET.

Additional tour stops and on-sale dates will be announced in the coming weeks.
