PAUL HEYMAN TRIBUTES NEW JACK ON WWE'S 'TALKING SMACK'

By Mike Johnson on 2021-05-15 13:12:00

The final segment of today's edition of Talking Smack on the WWE Network and Peacock features Paul Heyman discussing the passing of New Jack, Jerome Young.

Heyman said he was asked before the show went on the air if he'd like to speak about the passing of New Jack.  Dropping all pretense of character, Heyman said that when he was first told New Jack passed away, he wanted to believe that Jack wanted to read his own obituary and had his wife call a bunch of people to announce his passing but that sometime this weekend, he'd pop up and say GOTCHA!, but that apparently, that is not the case.

Heyman said that as a rule, he hates eulogies, because they all come from a place of something that really sucks having happened and there's no good way to spin things.  He said that usually when someone passes, they show a lot of old footage but they can't here because New Jack was the most non-PG wrestler ever and that he gave everything bit of authenticity he had with his promos and in the ring.

Heyman said everyone who was a fan of ECW knew New Jack was a Gangsta from the moment his music hit.  Anyone who ever saw him perform live or cut a promo understood exactly how real he was.  He saod Jerome Young was quite an individual and he was every bit of New Jack that he could offer the fans.

Heyman said that ECW never had the rights to use that theme song, but they did so because ECW were gangsters and that in the most gangster promotion ever, New Jack was the most Gangsta of them all.   The show closed with Heyman wishing everyone a most extreme weekend and making the trademark New Jack "X" with his arms.

The entire Talkin' Smackdown episode is well worth going out of the way to watch with an emotional Tamina segment as she discusses her family, a fired up Big E promo to preview the Intercontinental title match next week, a good Pat McAfee segment and more.  This was one of the strongest top to bottom Talkin' Smack broadcasts in some time.
