5/4 AIW GO FOR BROKE ON IWTV.LIVE REPORT

By Joshua Higham on 2021-05-05 09:05:00

We are back in the undisclosed location in or around Cleveland, OH, for the next episode of AIW’s Go for Broke. We take a look back at the action of the previous episode and the current leaderboard before we get to this week’s action.

We are back to the red couch with Joseline Navarro. Representing Jamaica and the Dominican Republic, Navarro tells us she was diagnosed with breast cancer last year. She continued to go to training while undergoing chemotherapy. Officially in remission since November, she talks about not wanting to be defined by her cancer diagnosis: “if cancer can’t stop me, nobody can.”

AIW President Matt Wadsworth and AIW Owner John Thorne are in the commentary booth.

In the arena, it’s time for Megan Meyers vs. Joseline Navarro. Both are relative rookies without any Biggins Bucks so far in the competition. Joseline locks in a body scissors and a variation of a  crossface chickenwing, and Meyers can’t escape and has to tap out.

In the back, TKD is talking to Dom Garrini, asking for advice. Garrini tells him to stick with his tae kwon do. Kaplan walks through and tells TKD to “just f*** him up.”

We have Kaplan and Arthur McArthur. Kaplan wants to end this early, because he has a date, apparently. McArthur starts fast, and Kaplan is bleeding a bit already. Kaplan sends McArthur to the floor and hits a splash that was just yikes. McArthur sends Kaplan into the ring post. On commentary, Thorne says McArthur needs to drop the character stuff and “get in a fight.” Kaplan throws a discus lariat and goes to the top. McArthur blocks him and hits a back suplex. Kaplan recovers and connects with a Dominator of sorts and gets the pin.

Big Twan Tucker is on the red couch, saying after graduating high school, he couldn’t get a football scholarship. He mentions going to community college and watching Raw, wondering what it would take to become a pro wrestler. He found a sense of belonging in wrestling school, making friends, but losing Chandler Biggins. He knows how much people want to win, but he wants it more.

Twan Tucker is taking on the teenage rookie, Casey Carrington. Carrington wants a handshake, but slaps Twan instead. Twan did not like that. Black hole slam gets a two count, and Carrington retreats to the floor, claiming an injury. The ref goes to check on him, and Twan follows to the floor. It’s a ruse, and Carrington tries a cheap shot, but it doesn’t do much. Twan hits a pop up spear and gets the three count.

Twan is fired up in the back after his win. He wants some gold.

We see The Duke game planning with the Bitcoin Boiz, when the Rip City Shooters (Wes Barkley and Absolute Intense Champion Josh Bishop) walk in. Barkley says they can guarantee the Bitcoin Boiz the win tonight and guarantee the title win, but the Rip City Shooters want the first shot. The Duke reminds Barkley that he’s currently in first place, so Bishop should worry more about him and not the tag titles. Barkley and Bishop leave, remarking how they could help and guarantee the win, but could also help it not to happen. Bishop smiles, and says, “the enemy of my enemy is my friend.”

Back to the arena with Brian Carson vs Ziggy Haim (with Derek Dillinger). Carson is pacing complaining about losing his money. Carson hits a back breaker. It’s all Carson as he locks in the sharpshooter. Derek Dillinger gets on the apron, distracting the ref while Ziggy taps. Carson celebrates, but the ref didn’t see it. Ziggy rolls him up and grabs the tights to get her first singles win in the competition.

On the red couch, Dom Garrini talks about Chandler Biggins and his love of wrestling and the AIW Academy students. He tells a story of Biggins in the hospital before his passing, crying that he’d wouldn’t live to see the next class graduate and debut.

Back in the lounge, Brian Carson is pissed he doesn’t have any Biggins Bucks and wants another opponent. Arthur McArthur, Riley Rose, and Kaplan all say no, but Frankie Flynn is interested.

In the ring, it’s time for Ethan Wright vs TKD, which is stemming from a locker room confrontation that wasn’t caught by the cameras. Ethan Wright apparently doesn’t like the students of the AIW Academy blocking his path into the promotion. Wright blocks a few kicks, but can’t block them all. They go to the floor, and Wright ducks a kick, making TKD kick the ringpost. Wright works on TKD’s legs, but TKD tries for some palm strikes. Wright gets a single leg crab, but TKD makes the ropes. Wright chop blocks the legs, and spins into the figure four. TKD has to tap out, giving Ethan Wright more Biggins Bucks.

The camera is right there waiting for Ethan Wright at the curtain. Wright says he’s been working 11 years to get a platform to show off the training he got from Harley Race. The Duke is nearby with the Bitcoin Boiz and congratulates Wright on the win.

Back in the arena, the Bitcoin Boiz (Eric Taylor and Mikey Montgomery) along with The Duke take on PME (Philly Collins and Marino Tenaglia). The AIW Tag Titles are not on the line, but if the Bitcoin Boiz win, they are guaranteed a title shot. Montgomery is flustered by Marino’s offense and showboating. The Duke and the Boiz use the numbers game to get the advantage. Philly Collins finally gets the tag and uses his power. Marino is on the top rope as Duke tries to distract him. Taylor tries for a headscissors, but Marino has enough to block. A kick from Montgomery helps Taylor get Marino over. The Bitcoin Boiz hit an elevated Ace Crusher, and the ref is down too. Josh Bishop comes out and attacks the Bitcoin Boiz. Barkley takes out The Duke. Bishop puts Marino on top of Montgomery and carries the ref to see the pin. PME wins.
