CM PUNK TALKS POTENTIAL RETURN TO THE RING, SAYS VINCE MCMAHON ISN'T AFRAID OF AEW

By Mike Johnson on 2021-04-06 03:49:00

CM Punk appeared on TMZ Sports, discussing several topics, including AEW's Chris Jericho appearing on WWE's Broken Skull Sessions this weekend.  Punk said that he expected AEW would be mentioned but that he didn't expect hard questions to be asked, noting that perhaps they shouldn't be asked.  He said that anytime you can get people to talk about you, it's a good thing and that it will bring awareness to AEW for WWE fans who perhaps just thought Chris Jericho retired.  He said that he thought Jericho appearing meant Vince McMahon wasn't afraid of AEW and that it's interesting, but there's something to be said about making sure your talents are kept special and can only be seen in a certain place, but it's a different time today.

On whether he's more likely to return to MMA or professional wrestling, Punk said that at 42 he's getting "a little long in the tooth" and has been focusing on movies and television of late (he has appearances in Starz' Heels forthcoming)  but that he still trains in MMA.  He said that he would have to do a long fight camp in order to compete again because he started so late at MMA and said that he tried to compete at the top level for "some silly reason."  He didn't really comment on a potential pro wrestling return but pointed out he has more grey in his beard than he did even a year ago.
