What happened to Buddy Murphy?

Nothing, except WWE apparently has zero for one of the best in-ring performers in the company, sadly.

I saw it was being reported that Lucha Underground is coming back.  Is that true?

We have received a few questions about this lately, so I will answer it here.  There is no movement within MGM, which owns the series, about reviving the brand.

In asking around, we are also told that the producers and creative who worked on the series have had zero discussion about trying to get another season of Lucha Underground into production.  With the El Rey Network having shut down, for Lucha Underground to return would mean they would have to revive the series, somehow getting it a new broadcast or streaming home, then once that process was done, then try and re-assemble whatever sets weren't destroyed or build new ones from scratch, then hire new talents or wrangle whatever talents aren't now signed elsewhere, THEN put together a new writing room to map out a season, etc. and that's before they even would even go forward and filmed something under the current COVID-19 compliance.  It's not an easy process and not something that has been discussed, especially since it was an expensive series to put together.

My belief is that MLW using Mil Muertes and the Azteca Underground storyline has been misconstrued elsewhere as a full blown Lucha Underground return, which obviously is not the case, but that's how the rumors began.  Lucha Underground had a good, entertaining four season run, but that is likely where it will end, at those four seasons.

You just had a mention in This Day in History about Ric Flair's WWE retirement.  We know he came back to Impact and to work some shows internationally.  Did WWE ever get mad at him over it?

I don't know that they ever got mad over it, but I am sure there had to have been some disappointment.  The feeling at the time, if I am remembering correctly, was that if Flair financially needed to wrestle, they understood but it would never happen within WWE.

Many years ago, WWE was going to release a DVD and do a big deal around the unveiling of a Hulk Hogan Hall of Fame statue.  Do you think they will ever get back to that?

Well, they have him hosting the show this year and it's in his hometown.  It's possible the statue was made and hidden in a warehouse, but I haven't heard of any plans for it to be unveiled this year.  Down the line?  Perhaps it's possible.

Christian going to AEW made me think about the last time he left there to jump to TNA.  I wasn't watching as much as I do now, so I was wondering what the circumstances were?  Was he released and then brought back?

Christian left WWE for TNA because at the time, WWE management didn't want to push him as a main eventer during a time period where the fans were calling for Christian to be used in a more meaningful way. Realizing there was a glass ceiling, he left for TNA with the idea that he'd be a top name there. While he was pushed to the top, Christian never really was a name that was focused upon as a central figure in TNA. When his second TNA contract came up, Christian opted to return to WWE for a larger paycheck and sources noted at the time he was frustrated with the creative end of TNA.

Any update on Joey Ryan suing Impact Wrestling?

It is still making its way through the courts in Nashville.

I know you host stuff at New York Comic Con. Do you know if it will take place this year?

I am told that there are hopeful, but October is a long way away, so until you hear it's 100% on, I wouldn't make any travel plans.    Honestly, it's way too soon to see one way or the other how the pandemic is going to go with all the different variants and I don't imagine the unions that oversee the running of that building allowing anyone in there unless they truly believe it's safe and good luck with convincing a union from NYC otherwise if they don't want to do something.
