If you were Andrade, where would be the first place you'd want to go?
The independents are hit and miss right now, so I think a big splash in New Japan would be great for him and the promotion alike. Give him a chance to build himself up with some great performances and then once he's got some buzz going, then hit AEW.
Are you surprised there are so many events set for Wrestlemania weekend?
Yes and no. There are far less events than usual but I do think that this may have been a little too soon for some to want to return. I also think that it's going to be far harder for these promotions to make their money back given that the vast majority of international travelers are not coming in for Wrestlemania this year. With a smaller group to begin with, that will trickle down to fewer fans interested in events beyond WWE.
This week is the anniversary of Wrestlemania 4 where they did the Title tournament. Why would WWF not have rematched Randy Savage vs. Ricky Steamboat at that show in the second round?
I remember watching that show live when I was 13 years old and hoping for that match to happen, so I am with you there. The only theory I have is that with Savage working four matches that night, they didn't want him and Steamboat to "steal the show" and outshine Savage winning the belt, especially when Steamboat was obviously heading out of the company in hindsight. WWF was very much built on good vs. evil at that point as well, so booking that would have been very much out of character for the company.
Did you ever attend SMW? If so, what were the crowds like?
Sadly, I never had the chance to see Smoky Mountain Wrestling in person, but it certainly seemed like the audience "believed" so it would have been fun to sit in that atmosphere and take it in. Dave Scherer did attend a few of their shows, so you should address this question to him.
