GLEAT ANNOUNCES BIG SIGNING, NJPW, BIG JAPAN AND MORE FROM JAPAN

By Oliver Taylor on 2021-03-12 08:58:00

GLEAT

CIMA, El Lindaman, Issei Onizuka and T-Hawk, better known as #STRONGHEARTS, have joined GLEAT.

GLEAT will hold a press conference at 12pm JST tomorrow, seemingly to announce the signing of #STRONGHEARTS, on its YouTube channel.

It remains to be seen how joining GLEAT will affect the group’s outside bookings. For instance, CIMA currently holds All Japan Pro Wrestling’s Junior Heavyweight Championship and is scheduled to challenge Masato Tanaka for Pro Wrestling ZERO1’s World Heavyweight Championship on May 30.

If GLEAT has signed the group exclusively, it would be a massive coup for the young company and its biggest signing to date. The group will join Daijiro Matsui, Kaz Hayashi, Minoru Tanaka, Souma Watanabe, Takanori Ito and Yu Iizuka on GLEAT’s roster.

#STRONGHEARTS were originally formed in 2018 after CIMA, El Lindaman, T-Hawk and Takehiro Yamamura left Dragon Gate. Yamamura has not wretled in nearly a year due to a neck injury while Onizuka debuted and joined the group last February.

The group has travelled across the globe wrestling for a variety of promotions but the ongoing COVID-19 global pandemic has obviously put a stop to that.

Perhaps rather than an exclusive deal, it might make more sense if GLEAT is just #STRONGHEARTS’ home promotion should the company begin to hold shows more regularly later this year. As it stands, GLEAT is scheduled to hold its second show – GLEAT.1 – on July 1 in Tokyo Dome City Hall.
