By James Kurokawa on 2021-02-28 03:01:00

2/28/21 Results from New Japan’s Castle Attack, New IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion crowned in Osaka, Japan

Satoshi Kojima and Hiroyoshi Tenzan vs. Jeff Cobb and Will Ospreay.  Kojima pinned Cobb after a lariat.

Chase Owens, EVIL, Jay White, with Gedo and Dick Togo vs. Toru Yano, Tomohiro Ishii and Kazuchika Okada.  Ishii was still hurting from his match last night.   He was suffering a rib injury.    Okada also had his lower back taped up.  Okada applied the Money Clip on Owens and he tapped out quickly.

IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championship:  Hirooki Goto and YOSHI-HASHI vs. Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa, with Jado.  CHAOS started the match fast.   Tanga Loa hit a big powerbomb on YOSHI-HASHI.   The referee almost called the match until YOSHI-HASHI got fired up.   Both teams look sharp in this match.     Jado calls for the Magic Killer.   They hit it on YOSHI-HASHI, but he kicks out at two.     CHAOS hits a GYR on Tama, but he kicks out.   All four men are beating the hell out of each other.    Jado hits Goto with the Kendo stick.   Tama Tonga hits the Gun Stun on Goto and gets the pinfall.     Guerrillas of Destiny retain the titles.  Awesome match.   G.O.D.’s record setting title reign continues.

NEVER Openweight Championship:  The Great O-Khan vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi.  The match quickly went to the floor.   The Great O-Khan threw Tanahashi into the guardrails.   O-Khan got into the face of Yota Tsuji who was working ringside.   O-Khan got Tanahashi in a full Nelson and teased Tsuji.  Tsuji balled his hand into a fist.  Tanahashi reverses out before Tsuji could make a decision.  Tanahashi worked over the knees of O-Khan with Dragon screw leg whips and the Texas Cloverleaf.     At one point both men collided with the referee.  O-Khan told Tsuji to give him a chair.   Tsuji tossed it to Tanahashi instead.   Tanahashi tripped O-Khan who ate a chair.  The pace of the match picked up and it was too much to recap here.  O-Khan went for the Eliminator but Tanahashi reversed out of it into a crucifix pin.   Hiroshi Tanahashi retains the NEVER Openweight Championship.  This was a great match.   Tanahashi worked hard.  O-Khan looked like a monster.  It is disappointing that the United Empire cannot get a signature win.   They are the future of the company but unable get real important wins.

IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship 3-way match:  BUSHI vs. El Phantasmo vs. El Desperado  They start fast and too much to recap here.  ELP ripped the mask off of Desperado.  He nailed a cradle piledriver on the ramp way.  Big gasp from the crowd when ELP put on Desperado’s mask and walked back to the ring.    Officials quickly ran to check on Desperado.    ELP and BUSHI continue the match in the ring.  Desperado, with a new mask, returned to ring and attacked ELP.   They hit all their big moves.   Unreal.  Desperado hits two Pinche Locos and pins El Phantasmo.  El Desperado is the new IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion!  Awesome match!   Wow, El Desperado won both Jr. Division Titles within a week.

Suzuki-Gun was not even in the scheduled plans during the Castle Attack Tour, but due to Hiromu”s injury, they stand atop the Jr. Division now.

IWGP Intercontinental Heavyweight Championship:  Tetsuya Naito vs. Kota Ibushi.  Ibushi comes to the ring with both belts.     Both wrestlers begin mat wrestling.   Great stuff here.  Naito starts the mind games by attacking Ibushi, taunting him and shoving the referee.     Awesome match!   Ibushi hit a deadlift German suplex on Naito which was vicious.    Naito hits Destino and Ibushi kicks out.  Ibushi hits three Kamagoyes.   Ibushi falls on Naito for the pin.  Kota Ibushi retains the IWGP Intercontinental Heavyweight Championship.  Both men were wiped out and exhausted.

El Desperado walks to the ring.  At the Anniversary Show, the Heavyweight Champion faces the Jr. Heavyweight Champion in a special singles match.  El Desperado challenges Kota Ibushi.   Ibushi accepts.

All four title matches were awesome.   Please go to New Japan World and check it out.
