OKADA VS. EVIL: NJPW CASTLE ATTACK IN OSAKA, JAPAN NIGHT ONE RESULTS

By James Kurokawa on 2021-02-27 09:12:00

2/27/21 Results from New Japan’s Castle Attack From Osaka, Japan:

Satoshi Kojima, Hiroyoshi Tenzan and Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Jeff Cobb, The Great O-Khan and Will Ospreay.  Bea Priestley did not accompany the United Empire to ringside.  The heels attack at the bell.   O-Khan plants Tanahashi with an Eliminator.  Cobb hits Kojima with Tour of the Islands.  Ospreay pins Tenzan with an Oscutter.    This was a dominant win by the United Empire.   After the match, O-Khan and Ospreay both spoke to Yota Tsuji, possibly teasing an invite to the young lion to join their faction.

YOSHI-HASHI vs. Tanga Loa, with Jado.  YOSHI-HASHI was about to hit Kharma until Tama Tonga made his way to ringside.  Tanga Loa pins YOSHI-HASHI after hitting Apeshit.   Guerrillas of Destiny tried to hit Magic Killer on YOSHI-HASHI, but Hirooki Goto ran to save his partner.  The referee signaled to start the next match.

Hirooki Goto vs. Tama Tonga  Goto hits a GTR to pin Tama Tonga.   Both were quick matches, but really good.   All four men match up really well.   Good preview for the IWGP Tag Team Titles.

Kevin Kelly was previewing tomorrow night’s event and he said that Hiromu Takahashi would be out of action for six months with a torn pectoral muscle.

Provisional KOPW 2021 Trophy/Texas Strap Match:  Toru Yano vs. Chase Owens  To win the match, all turnbuckles must be removed.  Both men used the strap to whip each other.    At one point, Owens taped up Yano’s hands so he could not untie the turnbuckle.   Both men threw each other into guardrails.   Yano had welts on his back.   Yano powerbombed Owens and he was able to remove the last turnbuckle.     Yano is the winner and still KOPW 2021 Provisional Champion.  Better match than I expected.   They told a logical story with the strap that made sense.

Tomohiro Ishii vs. Jay White, with Gedo.  White attacked the ribs of Ishii early on.  He dropped Ishii chest first on to the guardrail.  Brutal fight.   Ishii hit a headbutt to White’s chin which was sick.   They hit their signature moves on each other but they kept kicking out.   Awesome match.     White finally hit Bladerunner which led to a pinfall.   White and Gedo celebrated in the ring.    White pointed to the camera and said he was back.  Jay White has momentum heading into the New Japan Cup.

Kazuchika Okada vs. EVIL, with Dick Togo.  Okada starts fast coming after EVIL.   They take the match to the floor.  EVIL whips Okada into the timekeeper table.   He smashes Okada in the head with a chair.   The match went back and forth.  Great match!  Okada kept going for the Money Clip but EVIL would not submit.  Okada pulls out the Rainmaker, which pops the crowd.  Okada pins EVIL.

Okada takes the mic and says he wants to be back in the IWGP Title picture.   He will focus on winning the New Japan Cup and challenge for the IWGP Heavyweight Title.

Stay tuned for Night Two of Castle Attack.
