1/19/21 Results from New Japan Road to New Beginning from Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan
The Great O-Khan and Will Ospreay, with Bea Priestley vs. Satoshi Kojima and Yota Tsuji. Ospreay pins Tsuji with an Oscutter. Ospreay's style of wrestling has transformed from a high flyer to a heel brawler, with lots of punches and kicks. This style best fits his new heel persona and blends well with the power style of Jeff Cobb and The Great O-Khan.
DOUKI, Yoshinobu Kanemaru, El Desperado and Minoru Suzuki vs. Taiji Ishimori, El Phantasmo, Jado and Gedo. Another wild match between these heel factions. Phantasmo pins DOUKI after a loaded super kick. Phantasmo and Ishimori face off with Kanemaru and Desperado over the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Titles. They will face off on Saturday 1/23/21. As Bullet Club leaves the ring, Kevin Kelly stops Gedo to get a statement about Jay White. Gedo says "No Comment." Phantasmo, on camera says, "Hey Jay, get on WhatsApp. He needs to talk to you" (pointing at Gedo). Funny stuff.
El Phantasmo joins Kevin Kelly at the English commentary table. ELP states that he developed the most devastating super kick by kicking trees in Canada for 9 months. He says his name will be known with great New Japan strikers like Kawada, Misawa, KENTA, Shibata, and ELP. Japanese staff quickly put up plexiglass around ELP to keep distance from Kelly. Kelly said ELP was making trouble for the staff. ELP said that barrier was to keep his fans away from showering him with flowers and kisses.
YOSHI-HASHI, Hirooki Goto and Kazuchika Okada vs. Yujiro Takahashi, EVIL and Dick Togo. EVIL pins YOSHI-HASHI after Everything is Evil. Good match. EVIL looked sharp in this bout. The prior nights he seemed tentative against CHAOS, but tonight he was in top form.
Kevin Kelly asked ELP for the final word on what was in his boot. ELP was about to take off his boot but he left the commentary table. Hilarious.
Tomoaki Honma and Kota Ibushi vs. SANADA and Tetsuya Naito. Naito pins Honma with Destino. Honma took a beating in this match, especially from Naito.
Master Wato, SHO and Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. BUSHI, Hiromu Takahashi and Shingo Takagi. Takagi pins Wato with Last of the Dragon. Another good match. Los Ingobernales de Japon taunts their opponents as they leave the ring.
New Japan will back on New Japan World on Saturday January 23, 2021, with a card headlined by:
1. Satoshi Kojima and Hiroyoshi Tenzan vs. The Great O-Khan and Will Ospreay
2. IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Championship: Yoshinobu Kanemaru and El Desperado vs. Taiji Ishimori and El Phantasmo
