MLW FUSION REPORT: THE RESTART, TWO TITLE MATCHES, AND HAMMERSTONE/FATU IS COMING

We start off with a video package recapping the history of MLW leading up to the Restart.

We are in Orlando, Florida and your announcers are Rich Bocchini and Jared St. Laurent.

Match Number One: Alexander Hammerstone versus Jason Dugan in a Non Title Match

Hammerstone with a clothesline as the bell rings followed by the Nightmare Pendulum for the three count.

Winner: Alexander Hammerstone

After the match, Hammerstone has the mic and he wants to know how long does he have to be number one in the rankings to get what is coming his way. All of 2020, he was in the top ten at the peak of the list. It is time to stop running and give the people the fight they want to see. I am waiting on you.

We go to comments from Myron Reed. He says he has goals that need to be accomplished. He has a roadblock in front of him and it is Brian Pillman. They are building their legacy for the next generation.

We have a tale of the tape for the Middleweight Title Match.

Brian Pillman’s music plays but he does not come out. The music plays a second time and Pillman is still not coming to the ring.

We are told that Brian Pillman does not want to come to the ring.

We go to commercial.

Match Number Two: Brian Pillman Jr. versus Myron Reed (with Jordan Oliver) for the MLW Middleweight Championship

Pillman with a shoulder tackle and punches to the back and Reed goes to the floor. Pillman goes for a slingshot to the floor but Reed moves and Pillman lands on the apron. Pillman with a kick and forearms. Pillman chops Reed in the chest protector and it hurt him more than Reed. Pillman sends Reed face first onto the apron and Reed with a suicide dive onto Pillman. Reed with a forearm to the back and he returns to the ring. Reed goes for another suicide dive and Pillman with a European uppercut and knee.

Pillman with a slingshot senton to the back. Pillman with a La Magistral for a near fall. Pillman blocks a super kick and Pillman with a kick. Reed with an inside cradle for a near fall. Reed with a boot when Pillman charges into the corner. Pillman with a power slam for a near fall. Pillman with a kick to the ribs. Reed kicks Pillman and Pillman with another kick to the back. Reed with a forearm but Pillman with a kick and body scissors.

Pillman with a seated abdominal stretch. Reed with punches but Pillman with a forearm and an abdominal stretch and he uses the ropes for extra leverage until the referee stops him. Reed with chops and forearms. Pillman goes for a slam but Reed gets to his feet and gets a near fall with an O’Connor Roll. Pillman with a rocking chair and Pillman uses the chest protector to lock in the hold. Reed gets to the ropes to force a break.

Reed kicks Pillman in the head and then Reed avoids Pillman and hits a leg drop in the ropes followed by a springboard back elbow for a near fall. Reed with a forearm and he gets a near fall. Reed with forearms and chops to Pillman. Reed takes off the chest protector and he connects with forearms but Pillman fires back. Reed misses a rolling elbow and Pillman with chops. Reed chops back. Both men go for a cross body and both go down.

Reed gets up first and connects with a running boot but Pillman pops up and Reed with a clothesline. Reed with a matrix and enzuigiri. Reed with a kick to the chest and a slingshot side slam. Reed goes to the apron for a slingshot leg drop for a near fall. Reed goes to the apron and misses a springboard move. Pillman with a backslide for a near fall. Pillman with a European uppercut and running forearm followed by a discus clothesline.

Pillman with a spinebuster for a near fall. Pillman goes for a suplex but Reed lands on his feet. Pillman with a springboard cross body for a near fall. Pillman goes for a suplex but Reed blocks it and then hits a cutter. Reed with a springboard cutter. Reed with a dragon sleeper suplex for a near fall. Reed has a clothesline blocked and Reed with another matrix but Pillman with a chop to the back of the neck followed by a fisherman’s driver and he gets a near fall. Pillman sets for a knee into the corner but he hits the chest protector in the turnbuckles and Reed with the Captain Crunch for the three count.

Winner: Myron Reed (Retains Championship)

After the match, Myron Reed says he has said it before, don’t sleep on the Young Guns. Myron says Lio is in MLW and he wants to prove himself against the best so he wants Lio next.

We go to Los Parks in the gym.

They say it is time to get back to business and finish off Contra Unit. Then they will go after the titles.

Josef Samael interrupts the broadcast and he says to enjoy their festivities. Beware of the silence in the shadows. Josef says he is far away and getting ready for the next stage in the war. While he is preparing soldiers, Jacob Fatu is awaiting his next victim, Davey Boy Smith Jr.

Jacob says MLW is reloading. Contra has never stopped. He took care of Davey Boy Smith already and he will do it again if he has to.

Josef says Jacob will win and the black hand of Contra will put you in the death grip.

We go to commercial.

We are back and we are reminded of Konnan revealing that Salina de la Renta was assisting Contra Unit take over MLW.

We are told that Salina’s promoter and manager license has been revoked by MLW and she has been fined a significant amount of money. Rich mentions that Salina will be on next week’s show.

We take a look at the Opera Cup.

We see the brackets for the 2020 Opera Cup and on the left side we have Rocky Romero versus Tom Lawlor and Laredo Kid versus ACH. The winners will meet in the semifinals. On the right side of the bracket, we have Low Ki versus the 2019 Opera Cup Winner Davey Boy Smith Jr. and Richard Holliday versus TJP. The winner of those two matches will meet in the semifinals and then the semifinal winners will meet for the 2020 Opera Cup.

The alternates for the tournament are Gino Medina, Jordan Oliver, Hijo de LA Park, King Mo, Dominic Garrini, and Daga.

Davey Boy Smith Jr. is with Alicia Atout and she asks him about the preparation for his match against Jacob Fatu. Davey says training has been going great, but it has been rough and tough. He says he has been training with Josh Barnett and he trained with Sakuraba and Tiger Mask in Japan. He is 100 percent physically and mentally for his match.

Davey is asked if this the biggest fight of his career. He says 16 years ago when he debuted in MLW as an 18 year old high school student, he wanted to make a big splash with TJ Wilson as the Stampede Bulldogs. It comes down to one night and one chance for the title.

We are back and Calvin Tankman will debut next week.

Richard Holliday is on the beach and he shows the Caribbean sunset and he talks about how he is stuck in the Caribbean. He blames Alicia Atout and he says it is a shame and tragedy that he is not there for the restart.

The Von Erichs are training and Kevin talks about how Court Bauer was a student of Gary Hart. He says Gary knew the business inside and out. Ross says that was the past and this is the present so they train some more.

Next week, the Opera Cup starts.

Match Number Three: Jacob Fatu versus Davey Boy Smith Jr. for the MLW World Championship

They go face to face as the bell rings and they have words for each other before locking up and going to a stalemate. They lock up and they go to the ropes and Smith with a clean break. They lock up and Smith with a side head lock. Smith with a shoulder tackle and Fatu does not move. Fatu with a shoulder tackle and Smith does not move.

They both charge at the same time and go to a stalemate when they make contact. Smith with a power slam for a near fall. Fatu with a punch and Smith punches back. They continue the exchange and Fatu with a head butt and Smith shows no effect. Smith with a head butt and Fatu does not feel anything. They continue to go back and forth with head butts. Smith gets Fatu to his knees and then to the mat and Smith gets a near fall.

Smith with a delayed vertical suplex for a near fall. Fatu backs Smith into the turnbuckles and then gives Smith a hard Irish whip. Fatu with forearms to the back and he hits a diving head butt to the back. Fatu with a forearm to the back. Smith with a punch and Fatu with a head butt. Fatu with a shoulder in the corner. Fatu with a hard Irish whip and Smith goes down.

Fatu with another head butt to the lower back followed by a slam. Fatu with more head butts to the lower back. Fatu with a rake of the eyes. Fatu with a head butt and Smith goes to the mat again. Fatu gets Smith on his back for a torture rack but Smith with a rake of the eyes to escape. Fatu with punches and an uppercut. Fatu goes for the handspring moonsault but Smith gets his knees up. Fatu misses a splash in the corner and hits the ring post. Smith with forearms and a kick to the chest and a boot to the head. Smith with a leg drop for a near fall.

Smith with kicks to the head and then he tries for a Saito suplex but he cannot get Fatu up. Smith with a rolling elbow and he this the Saito suplex. Smith gets a near fall. Smith goes for a clothesline but Fatu with a side slam. Fatu gets a near fall. Fatu goes to the turnbuckles but Smith stops him. Smith with a forearm and Smith goes for a power slam but Fatu gets to his feet when Smith’s back gives out. Fatu with a super kick to the back followed by a Samoan drop. Fatu goes to the turnbuckles for the double jump moonsault for the three count.

Winner: Jacob Fatu (Retains Championship)

After the match, Fatu celebrates his victory and takes the mic. He asks if that is all MLW has got. Contra has been running this since they hit the ground. Who is next to take the black flag. Hammerstone doesn’t want any of this.

Alexander Hammerstone makes his way to the ring, but before he can get in the ring, he attacks a masked man and then he his hit from behind with a chair by a masked man. Hammerstone is choke slammed on the apron.
