WHAT SHOULD GO DOWN TONIGHT IN THE CELL - THE WWE HELL IN A CELL TIP SHEET

By Dave Scherer, Mike Johnson & Richard Trionfo on 2020-10-25 00:00:00

WWE presents Hell In A Cell on 10/25.  Here's our take on what will happen.

WWE Champion Drew McIntyre vs. Randy Orton inside Hell in A Cell.

Dave: Drew already won the Ambulance match and has dominated the feud for the most part.  I love Randy's recent work, it's been great, but I don't see the point of him beating Drew here.  If it's me, I have Drew win a war and then move on to whoever is next.

Mike:  As of Saturday morning, this was slated to close the PPV.  To me, this needs to be about Drew having that definitive big win in a war.  Orton's run this year has been some of the best work of his career and it should be utilized to continue to build around McIntyre.  This one is the match I am most looking forward to, so unless they are going to do something zany out of nowhere, like Brock Lesnar showing up looking for his title, I see Drew maintaining.

Richard:  I would not be surprised to see Orton win the title on Sunday.  If Drew loses, I think his title reign would be considered equal to Edge's first run so I don't see it as a one and done for him and then he gets the title back in a moment where fans can appreciate the victory (like he should have had in Tampa when he beat Brock).  The big question for the WWE Title is 'who is next'?  This is a hard match to analyze since we have seen it so many times over the last few months.  When I spun the wheel, the deal it made was a title change.

WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns vs. Jey Uso - I Quit Match inside Hell in A Cell.

Dave: I don't see Jey winning but it will be interesting to see if he gets more in than he did last time.  And when he loses, does Roman totally kill him and go uber heel?

Mike: I don't see any way that Roman Reigns loses.  WWE has gotten a lot out of Jey here and I suspect they will have a good match, but Roman will again be at the Head of the Table.

Richard:  I have said that they did a good job building this match, but that was until this week when Roman Corleone told both Jimmy and Jey that if Roman wins, the Usos are out of the family.  They have done a good job to elevate Jey closer to Roman's level over the last month but this was a step back.  I don't see Roman losing this match, but it will be different than the other two cell matches because of the I Quit stipulation.

WWE Smackdown Women's Champion Bayley vs. Sasha Banks inside Hell In A Cell.

Dave: They could have booked Sasha so much better here but still, she is the face and Bayley is the one that screwed her.  She should beat Bayley up a lot in the Cell.  If it's me, I flip the belt here.

Mike: I go the opposite.  While Sasha should win here, I don't see it happening.  They have something in Bayley as the heel champion and I can see Banks fighting the good fight but losing in the end so they can keep this going.  After all, what's the rush to end it after they spent so much time building to the original turn.  They had one of the all time best matches in company history years ago at Takeover Brooklyn 1.  It would be great if they were given the opportunity to try and match that here.

Richard:  Andrew gave a great concept for how this match could have been done in a non Cell scenario (similar to what I suggested about sending Bayley to Raw in the draft to separate them).  As much as I disliked Roman and Jey this week, the way that Sasha finally got Bayley to sign the contract was not good.  I would have rather seen Bayley not sign the contract and act like she doesn't have a match on Sunday, until the REAL Boss told her to defend the title or lose what she has fought to retain for over a year.  This is the cell match where I think a title change is most likely to happen, but I picked four title changes at Takeover.

Elias vs. Jeff Hardy

Dave: "It's the Monday before the show and we only have three matches, quick, give me something."  "OK Vince, how about Elias and Jeff?"  Great job pal!  Elias just made his big return it would stupid for him to lose here (which means he may).  But if it's me, I have him win.

Mike:  Elias has to win here, especially since it's the start of the feud.  The only way it doesn't happen is if WWE does something silly, like introducing a group and having them get killed off right away and then having their leader explain himself, but that never happens.........

Richard:  It is hard to believe that this was not the match for the PPV where you shake your head the most at how we got here (that is still to come).  In case you missed Raw (and based on the ratings, it was a lot of you), Elias performed a concert for the screens in Thunderdome and he was shown up by a guitar tech who was Jeff Hardy.  Hardy almost hits Elias with a guitar and that is why we have this match.  Elias should win but this is just a buffer between two of the cell matches.

Otis vs. Miz in a Winner Gets the Money in the Bank Briefcase Match

Dave: You know I hate the whole MITB concept and this year at Mania, they jumped the shark with it.  So of course they take it to a new level of stupid.  Unless they are going to have the Cell fall on the briefcase and destroy it forever, I honestly couldn't care less what they do with it here.  And that's a shoot!

Mike: Otis vs. Roman Reigns doesn't have much of a ring to it, but Miz challenging Drew McIntyre could be worthwhile.  I can see John Morrison interfering, or even Mandy trying to help and it backfiring on poor Otis.  Either way, my gut feeling here is Miz walks out with the title.

Richard:   If they had just had Miz challenge Otis for the briefcase, I would probably had 5 fewer minutes of material for my Smackdown post game show this week.  Instead, we had a lawsuit that made me more embarrassed to be an attorney than a wrestling fan and a courtroom scene that took everything leading into this and turned it upside down.  Judge JBL was about to rule for Otis until he was bribed by a lot of money or a lot of alcohol (or Marcellus' soul) in a briefcase, and announced that Otis would have to put the briefcase on the line at the PPV.  If Miz wins, all of the 2 minute losses in tag matches mean nothing.  I would have Otis keep the briefcase, but I don't see Otis successfully cashing in.
