IBUSHI MAKES HISTORY, AN EMPIRE RISING?, DRAGON GATE, ALL JAPAN & MORE FROM JAPAN

Kota Ibushi won his second consecutive G1 Climax at today’s show in Ry?goku Kokugikan.

The full results were:

• Hiromu Takahashi and Shingo Takagi def. Minoru Suzuki and Yoshinobu Kanemaru
• Hiroshi Tanahashi, Jeff Cobb, Juice Robinson and Master Wato def. Gedo, Jay White, KENTA and Taiji Ishimori
• Great-O-Khan and Will Ospreay def. Kazuchika Okada and SHO

DOUKI pinned YOSHI-HASHI in the opening match after Taichi and Zack Sabre Jr. his the Zack Mephisto. DOUKI, Taichi and Sabre Jr. will likely challenge Tomohiro Ishii, Toru Yano and YOSHI-HASHI for the NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Championships.

Hiromu Takahashi pinned Yoshinobu Kanemaru in the second match. BUSHI and Takahashi could challenge El Desperado and Kanemaru for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championships.

Minoru Suzuki and Shingo Takagi continued to brawl after the second match. Suzuki defeated Takagi to win the NEVER Openweight Championship at SUMMER STRUGGLE in JINGU on August 29.

New Japan announced Wrestle Kingdom 15 will be a two-night event on January 4 and 5.

Wrestle Kingdom 14 was also a two-night event, but took place on a Saturday and Sunday. Wrestle Kingdom 15 will take place on a Monday and Tuesday.

Will Ospreay defeated SHO by submission with a figure-four leglock. It appears Ospreay’s new faction might be called The Empire.

EVIL defeated BUSHI by submission with the scorpion deathlock. After the match, he attacked Tetsuya Naito and held the IWGP Heavyweight Championship and IWGP Intercontinental Championship aloft.

After Ibushi’s victory, Jay White promised to defeat Ibushi for his IWGP Heavyweight Championship challenge rights certificate briefcase backstage.

Hiroshi Tanahashi has also officially challenged for KENTA’s IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship challenge rights certificate briefcase, it was revealed in a Tokyo Sports article.

Jon Moxley currently holds the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship. Due to the current travel restrictions, it is hard to guess when Moxley will next be able to defend the championship.

New Japan’s next big show is Power Struggle in EDION Arena Osaka on November 7. After today’s show, it would not be a surprise to see these matches take place at either Power Struggle or on the preceding tour:

Diamante, KAZMA SAKAMOTO and Takashi Yoshida currently hold the Open the Triangle Gate Championships. They will face Naruki Doi, Punch Tominaga and Ryotsu Shimizu at The Gate of Destiny 2020 on November 3.

The winning team at The Gate of Destiny 2020 will face while Dragon Kid, Kagetora and Shuji Kondo at Kobe Pro Wrestling Festival 2020.
