COULD WWE NETWORK SPOTLIGHT RIVALRIES, JOHNNY SMITH, FANS REACTING TO ROMAN TURNING, GARY HART & IRON SHEIK BOOKS AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2020-09-03 10:00:00

Whatever happened to Tommy Dreamer's House of Hardcore?

The pandemic.

Do you think fans would be interested in a “WWE Rivalries” feature on the WWE Network, and how difficult would it be to do now that WWE has bookmarked a lot of it’s footage?   What I mean: Newer fans hear about all these amazing feuds from the 80s and 90s, and they’ve seen matches, segments, and highlights, but they’ve never experienced them from start to finish. Even with some or all of the footage on the Network, it’s hard to piece them together in order, especially during the attitude era.  For instance, you select “Hogan vs. Savage - The Mega Powers” and get the key matches, angles, and interviews that tell the story of the feud from start to finish. The Hogan-Savage matches and angles from SNME XII, SNME XV, WMIV, Summerslam, Survivor Series, SMNE XVII, SNME XX, Royal Rumble, Main Event II, and WMIV. No additional voiceover work, not a “network special,” just matches curated from existing WWE Network footage.  This would be great for the attitude era, where feuds crossed RAW, Smackdown, and HEAT weekly, plus PPVs, which makes them hard to follow for a new fan.

I can't see how fans WOULDN'T be interested in such a feature.  Imagine if you could follow along with every Ric Flair vs. Ricky Steamboat or every Hulk Hogan vs. Roddy Piper match?  I think it's a great idea and hopefully someone from WWE sees your question and steals the idea so everyone can enjoy such collections.

Why is it so hard to find the Gary Hart autobiography?

As it was explained to me, the original print run sold out and that, depending on who tells the story, Hart's family or the co-author have declined to sell the rights to the book or approve additional printings.

Why is it that the Iron Sheik's WWE book never came out?

The story that always made the rounds is that the book was written but that it was too racy to be published under the WWE banner and was shelved.  At one point, it was almost released through ECW Press' partnership with WWE but once again, it was shelved.  Perhaps one day, it will finally surface.

OK, Roman is a heel, what will fans b**ch about now?

Retribution, Raw Underground and the fact that they want to cheer Roman now.

Where is Excalibur?  Will he return to AEW soon?

He was on last night's AEW Dyamite broadcast.

Whatever happened to Johnny Smith from All Japan?  Why was his ring jacket spelled JHONNY?

The last I heard, he was living in Canada and I believe working as a fireman.  He was a damn great underrated performer.  I actually asked him once about the ring jacket when he was working for ECW and he said it was a gift from a fan in Japan, who had misspelled his name.
