WARNERMEDIA THRILLED WITH AEW'S WEEKEND NUMBERS, CODY UPDATE, BUCKS' AUTOBIOGRAPHY AND MORE AEW NEWS

By Mike Johnson on 2020-08-25 14:35:00

WarnerMedia execs had to the extremely happy with AEW's ratings over the weekend and all signs are that is the case, PWInsider.com has confirmed.  Dynamite allowed them to have three of the top five rated broadcasts in the 18-34 demo on cable Saturday night - NBA coverage were the top two broadcasts that night, AEW ranked fifth - and also showed that the audience followed AEW from its usual home on Wednesday to Saturday, even with WWE Takeover taking place at the same time.  WarnerMedia ended up with four of the top ten shows that night.

AEW Dynamite will air live on Thursday this week from Daily's Place in Jacksonville with a limited amount of fans in attendance for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic manifested.  AEW Dynamite will be live the next several weeks leading into and following up on the 9/5 All Out PPV broadcast.  Set for the PPV thus far:

*AEW Champion Jon Moxley vs. MJF.
*Chris Jericho vs. Orange Cassidy in the first-ever Mimosa Mayhem Match.
*AEW Women's Champion Hikaru Shida vs. NWA Women's Champion Thunder Rosa.
*AEW Tag Team Champions Kenny Omega & Adam Page vs. 8/27 Dynamite Gauntlet winners.

The expectation is that Cody will be off TV for an extended period to sell the beating he took at the hands of Brodie Lee.  The timing may have something to do with STARZ Heels series going into production in Georgia as Stephen Amell specifically asked Cody to take part in the series when Amell's casting was announced last year.  The timing certainly matches up.  AEW has promised an update on Cody this Thursday.  Also announced for Thursday:

*Contract Signing - AEW Champion Jon Moxley vs. MJF

*Tables Match: Sammy Guevara vs. Matt Hardy.

*AEW TNT Champion Brodie Lee's title celebration.

*Gauntlet Match: Natural Nightmares vs. Young Bucks vs. Best Friends vs. FTR - Winners to challenge for AEW Tag Team Champions at All Out 2020 PPV.

*Big Swole vs. Dr. Britt Baker & Penelope Ford & Rebel - Handicap Match.

*Chris Jericho on commentary.

The Young Bucks' autobiography is currently the top selling book on Amazon for pro wrestling.  The book will be released this November and traces their career, from Matt and Nick Jackson's perspectives all the way from growing up to the creation of AEW.
