FORMER WWE NXT STAR ARRESTED YESTERDAY

By Mike Johnson on 2020-08-18 17:42:00

Former WWE NXT star Dan Matha was arrested yesterday, Monday 8/17 for failing to appear at a traffic hearing on 4/24.

Matha had been ordered to appear in court after what court records indicate was a traffic crash involving $12,500 in damages that took place on Plymouth Sorrento Road and Haas Road on 3/28.  Matha, during that incident, had been charged with driving while utilizing a registration tag for his vehicle that had been expired over six months.

The incident report from the officer on scene noted he was dispatched to the location of the crash, writing "When I arrived on scene I observed a silver Hyundai Sonata with severe front end damage.  I spoke to the driver of the vehicle, the driver advised he knew the registration was expired.  This was the second conviction for driving with an expired tag over 6 months.  I then cited the driver with 320.07(3)(c)"  It was noted in the incident report that Matha was not impaired during the time of the crash and that the crash resulted in "serious injury", which is believed to refer to Matha himself being hurt.  Matha has previously made reference to a car wreck where he was injured on social media.

As noted in the March incident report, Matha had been previously charged several times over the last year with driving without a license, most recently in February 2020.

A warrant was issued for Matha's arrest on 6/24 after he failed to appear in court in April regarding the 3/18 crash.  Court records indicate Matha was arrested yesterday at 3855 South John Young Parkway at 12:32 PM and later released on his own recognizance.  He is currently scheduled for a hearing on 9/2 at 7:30 AM.

Matha, 32, was signed by WWE in 2015 and had been training at the WWE Performance Center while performing on NXT events, most notably as one half of the Outliers tag team with current Raw star Riddick Moss.  He was released earlier this year as part of the company's cost-cutting measures.

Matha's arrest was first reported by WrestlingInc.com.
