We are here at Dailey's Place for an AEW Championship edition of AEW Dynamite. Your announcers are Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone and Taz. Dark Order and the Elite are already in the ring. No pomp, no circumstance, nothing. I'm guessing this is a bullet point special for my man Cory Strode. Dark Order 9 is out there tonight. Not sure who exactly who he is but good for him for joining Dark Order, as you should have done by now. Anny Jay and 10 are at the broadcast booth. Again, as discussed last week this won't really be much of a match so much as stories are being told. Will Colt Cabana join? Will Omega and Page have issues? Where does FTR stand in all of this? Stu Grayson continues to be an athletic freak. Interesting that Dax went to save Omega from a pin but not Page. I believe commentary just said FTR are the #1 contenders for the AEW World Tag Team Titles. And we get our Dick Grayson reference from JR. Smart move? Dark Order NEEDS to go over strong here. They've been maligned and lost to Omega and Page last week. So far, we have a spot fest. And it looks like we have an injury to a member of FTR. Everyone except the Bucks and Omega have headed to the back to tend to the injury.
Colt seems to be following Brodie Lee's direction here. Dark Order in control. 6 on 3 advantage should be enough but, of course, we're going 50-50 here. This does exactly nothing for the Dark Order. Page returns as Matt Jackson is in trouble. Matt's done some decent stick and move stuff. Page is cleaning house so we're at 6 on 4. Seems like some oddness between PAge and Lee. They've been staring each other downa nd now they go one on one. Tope Suicida by the Exalted One. Omega saves Page from the pin after a Chicago Skyline. Even with the numbers, Dark Order can't put the Elite away. Brodie Lee with a lariat on Page for the pin. Not much you can say about this one. It was definately a car crash. Dark Order with the needed win. Without FTR there, it should have been more dominant. Did nothing for the other members of the Dark Order whatsoever.
Earlier today, Chuck and Trent show up in Trent's mom's car. That's.....cool? Jon Moxley talks about his upcoming title defense against Darby Allin. He talks about his death match past. For history purposes, Darby Allin will become the 1st man to challenge for the AEW World Title twice. Moxley tells him that when the time comes, just stay down. Taz mentions that Ricky Starks and Brian Cage are banned from the building tonight.
Tag team action on the way as Santana and Ortiz take on Best Friends. Two teams in real need of a win here. Santana and Ortiz have been fodder for the AEW Roster and Best Friends are coming off a loss to the champions. As a match, this should be excellent. Santana and Ortiz absolutely need a big showing here. It's your run of the mill match as we head to commercial.
We're back and AEW has an issue. I really enjoy what they're doing but last week's show did zero for me. Tonight, 40 minutes in and I am seriously wondering how the Adam Cole Pat McAfee angle is going on NXT. Is this enjoyable? Sure. Is it a decent match so far? Yeah. Is anything insulting my intellegence? I guess not. BUT, if I were a first time viewer, what I've seen tonight wouldn't make me clamor for more. This is the Inner Circle we're talking about. They were supposed to be THE tippy top crew in this company. I know Best Friends are good. Their stock went up with their showing during PAndemic Phase 1. The top heel group shoudn't be going 50-50 here. Between this, Hager ALWAYS falling short, Guevara being a pinfall machine, these 4 guys come off as total hangers-on for Jericho. Aaaaaaaaaand the Inner Circle loses....again. Rinse.
FINALLY, MJF from his campaign headquarters. The guy is cutting s promo about the level balance of his poster. Please AEW, give this man a mic every single week. And we are cut short for a Matt Hardy promo. He cites that he wanted to go to a company allows him to be himself. Seems like he's bring out the "real" MAtthew Hardy. He puts over Private Party and then goes to work verbally on Sammy Guevara. Camera picks up Sammy coming up from under the ring. Hardy seems to sense his presence and immediately goes on the attack. He's beating the tar out of the Spanish God. Sammy with a chair shot in retaliation and Matthew is wearing a crimson mask as Sammy puts him through the table.
In the parking lot, Santana and Ortiz take a sledgehammer to the soccer mom van. Nothing says heat like destroying a mini van. Sometimes, I just can't....
This pedestrian episode continutes with Alex Reynolds and John Silver against Matt Cordona and Cody. Allow me to spoil this for you. Dark Order will get steamrolled and Cardona will be granted a TNT title shot next week. Good to see Cardona. Don;t know what his full time status is. I understand Silver and Reynolds are signed. Good to see the Beyond alums making good.
I do like the MJF2020 signs around ringside. Keeps the story and gimmick in the forefront. DEcent showing by the Dark Order. It's an odd paradigm as Cordona isn't being made to look impressive here at all. He's always been over with the internet crowd but never pushed forward to the main events, Cody and Matt win here, as expected and HERE IS SCORPIO SKY to go face to face with Cody.
Best Friends are lamenting that Mom's van got trashed, Nothing screams cool like mom's van.
Sammy G graces us with his presence as it may be time for our debate. Sammy is about the only one who can get me to pay close attnetion to the picture in picture.
Le Champion Chris Jericho vs Orange Cassidy in the debate is up next with our special guest moderator. Rumor has it that it's Eric Bischoff and it IS indeed Easy Z. We're getting 5 questions. Orange is out first and he still owes Le Champion $7000. Jericho tells us that everyonr laughs at him every single day. Cassidy has no response. This is a verbal evisceration by Jericho so far as Cassidy says nothing. Cassidy DOES in fact have strong opinions about global warming. Jericho promises that Cassidy will pay him the $7K after nest weeks match. Cassidy tells JEricho to shut up. He doesn't care about the debate but he does care about next week. Bischoff declares Cassidy the winner. Hager attacks, Jericho with the Judas Effect. The debate has been the best thing on this show so far.
Dr. Britt Baker announces that Big Swole will face Reba. Apparently it's happening right now. Reba seems uneasy and Swole wins fairly quick. The less said, the better.
Good news: The Rock n Roll Express will be on Dynamite next week! Along with Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard. I'm still hot about Tully and Arn beating them in 1987 for the NWA World Tag Team Titles.
World Title match is up, hopefully to save the show. Hard hitting and we get a plug for the secret #. DEcent little brawl so far. My problem here is that I have absolutely no belief that he has any chance here. Dang! Allin hits the post from the ramp! Picture in picture commercial. Again, I know they are doing their best but I'd love it if they'd load up early and let the main event run uninterrupted.. Breaks the flow and now they come back in the home stretch. I love Allin, he's got heart but he's quickly becomming the guy who can't win the big one. I say that before we even have a result tonight. Canadian Destroyer by Allin. MJF with the workd title belt to the head of Moxley. Commentary dictates he's rather challenge Allin. Coffin drop for 2 and Moxley is busted wide open. Allin going for it with another coffin drop but Mox with a rear naked choke counter. Gotch piledriver for 2 by Mox. Minoru Suzuki would be proud. Paradigm shift and Moxley retains. MJF is upset over the result as we go to credits.
