AEW began the storyline last week on Dynamite with MJF holding a campaign rally where he declared he and AEW deserved better than Moxley as Champ. AEW's wording indicates that should Moxley lose the belt before the PPV, MJF would challenge the new champ. Moxley, who defeated Chris Jericho earlier this year at the AEW Revolution PPV for the belt, defends against Darby Allin on AEW Dynamite this Wednesday.
