FORMER SUMMERSLAM VENUE IMPLODED

By Mike Johnson on 2020-07-11 11:03:00

Scott D. sent word that Michigan's Palace of Auburn Hills, the site of several PPVs including Summerslam 1993 (Lex Luger vs. Yokozuna on top), the 1997 and 1998 editions of WCW's World War 3 and the 2009 Impact Wrestling Slammiversary PPV was imploded yesterday.   The venue opened in 1988 and held its last event in 2017.

Over the course of its existence, the venue hosted four WCW Monday Nitro tapings, including an August 1997 Nitro headlined by Lex Luger defeating Hulk Hogan for the WCW World Championship.  WWE ran 21 live events in the venue between August 1988 and March 1991.

You can see footage of the demolition below. Thanks to Scott D.
